This hotel is in a good location close to the Albert Hall and the reception area is well furnished and friendly. We booked on the strength of the website and gallery of rooms. Our room however was on 5th floor along narrow winding corridors then under the eaves and struggling to squeeze everything in. Twin room very cramped. Couldn't leave...

The Hotel itself was about worthy of it's 4 Star rating. However, the Room they gave us was terrible! It was the smallest Hotel Room I have ever stayed in. The foot of the bed was almost touching the wall, to get past you have to turn sideways and 'shimmy ' through. The bathroom was diabolical! The toilet roll holder...

A fantastic hotel in the heart of London. From the unassuming entrance to the quiet lobby you know you have entered a hotel of high quality. We had a room on the 5th floor which although small was beautifully appointed and finished. The breakfast is sumptuous and well worth the extra cost. If you are looking for comfort close to...

Stayed at Queens Gate Hotel. This is in the area where several emabassies are located. Very close to everything. Small but clean, adequate rooms. Breakfast buffet had a good selection. This hotel was small but quiet and the staff was friendly.

This hotel is perfectly situated for the Royal Albert Hall which is why we choose it, however it is shabby. We arrived for 2 nights and were given a ground floor room, there are marks and flaked paintwork on the walls, doors, windows and skirting. We asked to be moved but the only alternative was a basement room, which was...

Dear happy098765, I apologize that your room was not decorated to standard. In fact only last week we completed having all 90 rooms repainted. You were unlucky to have one of the last rooms to be redecorated. This week we are freshening up the lobby area and have commenced installing twin USB sockets in all rooms for charging your devices....

Thankfully only stayed one night, the drains in the bathroom stank such that we had to keep the door closed and the light.extractor fan on to be able to sleep. Told the receptionist the next morning who did only wrote the room number down and didn't even offer an apology. Other than that the room was tiny, but not as...

We stayed here recently to visit Kensington. firstly the hotel is superbly situated for this only a matter of 10 minutes walk to the main entrance of the Natural History Museum and 5 minutes to the Royal Albert Hall. With kids it is great as it's a short walk to Hyde Park (being careful on the main road). The welcome...

Dear Where_2_nextthen? The answer is to come back to Kensington again. The kids will love the Science museum and the big Blue Whale skeleton will shortly be unveiled at the Natural History Museum. Perhaps a picnic in the park? We really love your review and look forward to welcoming you back again. Sincerely Colm Kelly, General Manager

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Queen's Gate Hotel and did not experience the drawbacks other people have commented upon recently. We chose the hotel for its proximity to the Royal Albert Hall where we were attending a concert on Easter Sunday, and also far its public transport links - both underground and bus routes were within an...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
