There is so much to love about this hotel. It’s in a great location and with a couple of exceptions, some of the most customer centric staff I’ve ever encountered. Our room, typical of the size in London was beautifully presented. Breakfast was very good but staff are the highlight - absolutely charming and so helpful. Other staff were also charming and extremely professional. Now the downsides. Like some other reviewers, we’d booked through Travelzoo. We booked 1 room, for 2 people, for 2 nights. On arrival, the receptionist informed us we’d booked 2 rooms, for 2 people for 1 night. I showed her the confirmation we’d received directly from the hotel confirming our 2 night stay. Despite this, she refused to rectify their mistake and insisted we look at her system. I explained I’d booked and paid for 2 nights (and forwarded her the confirmation email from the hotel as she asked) and frankly didn’t care what was on her system. We discussed the problem for over 15 minutes whilst other people were checked in - exactly what you don’t want after an early start, long flight and trip across London. It concluded with her advising us that she’d book us in for 1 night but couldn’t do anything for our 2nd night. Frustrated we went to our room. Like other comments, our room was some distance, involving 2 lifts in different places. We missed the 2nd lift along a long corridor so climbed the last 2 flights via stairs. Soon after we got a call from Barbara, who explained she’d sorted out the mistake and all was resolved with our booking for 2 nights. She offered to deliver our revised key for the 2 nights but we agreed to collect it from reception on our way out. We noticed a sign saying complementary bar and snacks - the minibar was empty and there were no snacks. We called at reception on our way out - the same person who had failed to check us in. I said Barbara has been in touch with us and I wanted to collect the revised key - to which she replied she wasn’t aware but after a minute or so gave us the key. I enquired about the complementary bar and snacks and se said she’d arrange for some to be delivered - no explanation given. We booked dinner at the on site restaurant. On arrival we were asked “Travelzoo ?” Like others have commented, you are given the impression of being second class. A delightful and clearly overworked waitress (whilst other staff look chilled) asked about our travelzoo offer and whether it included a cocktail; apparently some do and some don’t. Whatever, surely this isn’t the ambience that such a classy hotel is trying to deliver, especially with distinctly average food. In conclusion, I would definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend the hotel and breakfast (not the restaurant). Reading other reviews, Management must be enormously frustrated that such a wonderful experience is marred (only slightly) by such silly errors by such a small number of staff. Finally, following conversations with other guests, many struggle to find their rooms. Why not explain this clearly on arrival for those affected?…
There was a bit of a mix up with our booking. The sign of any good business when things are not right is the speed they are rectified and the Clermont acted quickly. The staff are very welcoming the bedroom was great and the breakfast was fantastic. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel
Since I’ve started travelling again have used this hotel as a London base - really appreciating the help yourself fridge of goodies which is a nice touch and staff have been excellent. Had an issue with my booking recently which was sorted out expertly and courteously by Corina in particular. Will be returning.
Brilliant night away with family, lovely room, kind and helpful staff and an overall grand experience from check in to check out. Brilliant location for all our London plans. Lovely quiet room with great control of room temperature if travelling with a young baby. Will definitely book again when we return for more exploring or work.
The hotel is an easy 10min walk from Victoria Coach Station. I did not realise Victoria Underground was just next to the hotel so it was really convenient! I was able to walk everywhere to St James Park, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Embankment (for boat ride), Carnaby Street (shopping), Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Convent Garden! A black cab from Leicester Square cost £12. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and there are many choices of pillow selections. Buffet style Breakfast has plenty of choices with decent bread selection. The hot food includes mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, sunny Side up!
