At the Bedford Hotel, peace and quiet is our priority. With the elegant bustle of Bloomsbury on every side, that might sound like an impossible task. Covent Garden and the West End are just a short walk away, and the British Museum is on our doorstep. But at the Bedford, we can promise you a good night's sleep too. How do we do it? Well, many of the rooms overlook our picturesque private garden. The Bedford is small and intimate, offering a warm welcome with a personal touch. And it's a great place to relax with company too, with a charming guest lounge and laid back café occupying the ground floor. Meanwhile, the Bedford Garden restaurant serves home-made British specialities, with a modern twist, overlooking our secret garden. We're able to offer a little corner of traditional English tranquility, here, in a bustling, international city. It's made us a firm favourite with returning guests.

The Bedford Hotel was a great surprise. I thought it was a good value for the location and structure of the hotel. Check-in was done through the app, very practical and fast. All interactions with staff were very cordial and pleasant. Cleaning was carried out every day. There was a restaurant on the first floor. When I needed something, I called the reception and was promptly answered. The hotel met my expectations. The location was really the highlight for me: between two stations on very important lines the Central Line (Holborn Station) and Piccadilly Line (Russell Square), not to mention it is close to King's Cross Station. Some tips: the hotel has an elevator; Russell Square station is very close, but there is a part that doesn't have an elevator, but you can go upstairs with your suitcase (with effort, but it's possible); the British Museum is next door, enjoy going and spending the day. P.a. Sebastian is a gem!

It's a really good choice to stay in London! Besides being very confortable, the people is so kind that make you feel al home from the begining. The food is great!! Also the vegan shampoo, conditioner and soap are unique.

This was my first stay at the Bedford Hotel and I was extremely impressed. Attractive and welcoming foyer, friendly and helpful staff, very clean and well-equipped rooms, and a great location - walking distance to St Pancras/King's Cross, and Russell Square and Holborn tube stations. Good value for money, too.

I had never heard of a hotel that had small twin-bed rooms for singles, so I jumped at it. The room is plenty big enough, the garden view was wonderful, a small refrigerator was included so I could keep cold drinks. There is a closet with shelves and hangers. A fan kept the room cool during the warmer-than-expected afternoons in September. It was nice to have my own bathroom. I'm an American, so I had to bring an adapter, but there were a couple of outlets (and the adapter by itself could handle my phone, e-book, and Fitbit, which is all I needed). A full English breakfast was included in the low price, so that meant I had more disposable cash to spend in bookstores and cafes. The staff were quite friendly, including the cleaning crew. It was a very good place for a single traveler to go (and looked like a good place for non-singles as well). The location is great - you are "triangulated" between Russell Square, Holburn, and Tottenham Court Road tube stations; bus lines run along Southampton Row and on nearby streets, so you can get anywhere. You aren't as far as you might think from theatres, restaurants, and shopping (check out Seven Dials, Covent Garden). I "accidentally" walked back to the hotel a couple of times before I realized I didn't have to take the tube or a bus unless I really wanted to. The British Museum and the British Library are a short walk away (and worth a visit). I hope to return soon and will definitely try to stay at the Bedford.

The public places of the hotel are beautiful and modern but rooms are outdated. However the rooms are very clean, which is nice. Thank you to great cleaners! :) The walls of the rooms are paper thin and I could hear what the people next door were saying, not so nice! I had a room facing the garden so no noise coming from there, but the noise coming from next door was a bit bothering. Breakfast was okay, nothing special.

Bedford is a true 3 star hotel, probably closer to a 4. Over the course of 2 weeks we stayed in 5 different hotels and Bedford was hands down the best. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. We booked the double room with the garden view. The hotel provided ear plugs in the room but we didn't need them. Our room was spacious, clean. Bathroom was a little cramped for my husband and I but manageable. Make sure bathroom has a bath mat as the shower curtain doesn't keep all the water off the floor. Our only complaint was twice our key cards to get into the room stopped working and we had to go down to the front desk to get new ones. Not a huge deal, but annoying when it happens at night after a long day. Botanica is their onsite restaurant and I highly recommend for breakfast or dinner. Decor is so relaxing and makes you feel like you're eating in a lush garden. We also really appreciated the location - short walk to two tube stops but also tucked away from the busier parts of London. Would definitely stay here again.

-great variety for breakfast and coffee -centrally located -British museum located behind it -our checkout was at 11am but car pickup not till 2pm..they held our bags at no extra cost Cons Room kind of small Mattress was uncomfortable, could feel/hear the springs The soap/shampoo/conditioner is high up on the wall so,if you're taking a bath(which I did often) It kinda sucks. No plug outlets near the bed But we would definitely stay again.

TL;DR, but here goes: The Bedford along with the other hotels owned by Imperial London Hotels is the quintessential British budget hotel. Elemental in its design, fundamental in its amenities, these hotels give you what you need for a nice stay, in a minimalist way that feels quite British. If you're an American new to travel to London and you expect a Marriott, this is not the place for you. That said, at the Bedford you'll know you have entered into the world of London and you're not in Kansas. And that's what I want when I come here. A standard room is quite compact. The bed is smallish, the bathroom narrow and the seating area tiny. This is not a Disney Hotel! But...it is scrupulously clean, everything works as it should, the staff are on top of things, the cleaning makes the room look like new daily. I needed an extra pillow and it was at my door in minutes. If you have no experience with a hotel like the Bedford you're gonna scratch your head over the screenless, casement windows as your main source of airflow or the room having the thermostat attached to the radiator. And you're going to play with the many switches in the room until you figure out what combinations let you keep the TV on but the room lights off. And flushing the toilet is a mystery. You have to pump the handle three times and then hold it down on the fourth. But it's a very nice room. Just enjoy the quirks! I do. The dining area is pretty and the food was good. Just be aware that you'll have baked beans for breakfast? Its England for gosh sakes, have fun! I will say that the cappuccino machine slows the process down and when all the guests swarm the place at 9AM the staff gets a little overwhelmed. There has to be a negative and it's the narrow bathtub that's higher up from the floor than you're probably used to. So maybe no baths for you. The Bedford is located near Russell Square between the Holborn and Russell Square tube stops. Covent Garden is in walking distance as is Brunswick Center. and Euston Train station. It's a middle-class area and there is a Sainsbury Local just down the road so you can get anything you want to stock your room. If you can handle a nice, clean and well-run hotel that isn't American over-sized, this could work nicely.
