Just back from a 1 night stay here while having fantastic opportunity to attend Royal Garden Party and was really happy with the location, facilities and value. Bar area outside is a real hidden gem, almost an oasis in all the hubub of the metropolis! Weather was amazing so everything was at its best, but happy to recommend a stay...

We've just returned from a 3 night stay, the location is great. Short access to tube and /or bus stops and only a short walk to west end, Oxford St etc. The hotel is clean but dated in the public areas although our room was quite modern, perfectly spacious enough and overlooked the garden. The housekeeping staff were pleasant and...

We were very disappointed with our 4-night stay at the Bedford. Our room was on the top (6th) floor, street side. The room was very hot, though it wasn't particularly hot outside, and the only way to cool off was to keep the window open. The street was very noisy, however, and we had trouble sleeping. The toilet didn't flush...

Having stayed in a couple of different hotels in London I would recommend this one and have no hesitation to stay here again. The rooms are clean, comfortable and a good size, some of the others I have stayed in the past have been cramped but this was great. We stayed in a twin room at the rear of the...

Sure it's not the Ritz. .. but it is just fine. Well positioned for access to many London sites, tubes, buses, supermarkets, eating areas. Rooms are basic but functional. Clean. Bathroom in single small... but really what do you want to do in it..lol. breakfast good. Secure... old fashioned key drop box (in and out)but in some ways reassuring as...

I have to start with saying we are a Canadian couple just returning from our first trip to London. Our two week stay at the Bedford Hotel for the most part it was a pleasurable experience. London hotels have unique features that we are not use to in our North American hotels. Most notably the toilet being in a separate...

Impressive edifice but not growing old gracefully. Dowdy dull reception area. Room was OK but not much in the way of luxuries. Comfortable big bed and a good view of London from the 5th floor. Use the stairs down they are magnificent. Breakfast room very 'school dinners' very regimented and no atmosphere. Food was ok but not great. Whole hotel...

We were greeted and checked into our room efficiently and politely, room was at back of hotel as requested, it was bright airy and clean, the bathroom was a little small but ok for a couple of nights but a large person would struggle! Breakfast was self service, counter was topped up with freshly cooked food frequently. Quality and quantity...

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
At the Bedford Hotel, peace and quiet is our priority. With the elegant bustle of Bloomsbury on every side, that might sound like an impossible task. Covent Garden and the West End are just a short walk away, and the British Museum is on our doorstep. But at the Bedford, we can promise you a good night's sleep too. How do we do it? Well, many of the rooms overlook our picturesque private garden. The Bedford is small and intimate, offering a warm welcome with a personal touch. And it's a great place to relax with company too, with a charming guest lounge and laid back café occupying the ground floor. Meanwhile, the Bedford Garden restaurant serves home-made British specialities, with a modern twist, overlooking our secret garden. We're able to offer a little corner of traditional English tranquility, here, in a bustling, international city. It's made us a firm favourite with returning guests. ... more   less
