I will try not to drop into cliche by using the words 'tranquil' 'oasis' or 'eclectic' in this review - but it is all of those things and more. This doesn't feel staying like a B&B or a hotel - it feels like the second home of your most tasteful and cultured friend has been thrown open to you. I...

Great location in an neighborhood full of restaurants in walking distance (great recommendation for the best curry since a long, long time). The room I stayed in was wonderfully renovated; the area, although close to everything, is quite (I could sleep with my window open). I walked along the Thames, to the docks and Tower. Julian, the host, is a...

I chose it because of the reviews from trip advisor and wasn't disappointed, Julian has lovingly restored the inn and it has a great authentic feel about it, you can tell its a work of love. Its very well kept and was a pleasure to stay there. Also Julian has a lot of local knowledge which I found very useful...

Me and my friend had a really great time at this New Year. The first time I have seen the "Cable Street Inn" from the inside.....What an interesting place, I love the style, you never get bored looking at the décor. I enjoyed the Terrace at the top of the building it is quite romantic and atmospheric. I will remember...

This was the perfect place for me. Very convenient for access to Tobacco Dock and within easy reach of West End (15 minutes) and all attractions via transport from Shadwell (1 minute walk and 2 train lines). A beautiful historical building very clean and amazing, four poster, very comfortable bed in room number 2. Excellent value compared to other hotels...

This was a lovely Inn. Tucked away in the an up and coming area of East London. The rooms were extremely comfortable...the bathtub was big and inviting. Free wifi, nice breakfast in a spacious drawing room all decked out for Christmas. The Inn keeper also gave a great suggestion for lunch at a historical pub at the Prospect of Whitby....

The Bed and Breakfast is only a 5 minute walk from Shadwell DLR and it only took about 25 minutes to get to Kings Cross station on the underground. We were warmly greeted by the owner Julian and shown to the two rooms we had booked on the first floor. Both rooms were spacious, nicely decorated, well equipped and quiet...

We found this place from reviews in the Telegraph and it was great. Lots of stripped pine and pieces of sculpture around the place. If you want a plastic impersonal place this is not it. Breakfast a little limited but still adequate and as much good tea and coffee as you like. Eggs sit in antique egg coddler and guests...

We chose Cable Street Inn based on the reviews and because we wanted to see something new in London (this being our 8th trip to London). We were not disappointed. It may not be as central as some places, but we loved the neighborhood and found it easy to walk there to and from many major sites. A bus stops...

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighbourhood Profile
Whitechapel
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
