We were upgraded to the Portland on arrival at the Clarendon down the street. It's a converted town house. Really clean and spacious. We were in room 2. It's a great location easy access to the tube station at Russell Square. There is a beautiful park across the way which has a nice cafe in the middle of it. The... More

Staying at The Portland was a great experience. The staff were obliging and friendly. The rooms were quite & spacious especially by London standards. The bathrooms were well appointed & clean. The Grange group of hotels are very conveniently located, within a few steps from The British Museum & the Holbourn station. I would recommend this establishment.

I've stopped in the Grange hotels around Russell Square several times and they have all been consistently well priced, clean, well staffed, and the location is great - 5mins walk from Oxford Street and 10mins from Covent Garden. The breakfast is usually included if you get the right deal, the tube is nearby, but it is also central enough to... More

Incredibly large room. Very reasonable price for London. Staff was nice. Free wifi. Separate kitchenette area with tea facilities. We were on what Americans call the third floor and what the British call the 2nd floor. We thought it was quiet. Street is not super busy. Near British Museum. We liked park close by, Russell Square, where they have a... More

I stayed at the Grange Portland for a week. It is a comfortable hotel but nothing spectacular. The room was very large and clean. The rooms need an upage very badly though. The wallpaper is a bit peeling and the carpet is stained. However, the hotel is very conveniently located just off of Russell Square and about half way between... More

The location was excellent between Holborn and Russell Square tube stops and near to the British Museum. I travelled by myself, and my room was comfortable for one but not spacious, and having two people in the room would have been a mess of belongings. The kitchenette was great and appreciated, and my room looked out onto the garden behind... More

We stayed for 5 nights and couldn't fault this hotel. Great location close to the tube and walking distance to Covent Gardens or West End. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable & the staff were very friendly. The included continental breakfast was also good. We would definitely stay again if in London.

It's very near the British Museum in Bloomsbury, is handy for Covent Garden and the West End and a great place to base yourself for a few days in London. The room had basic kitchen facilities and was quiet, overlooking a small private garden / square at the back. Breakfast was in a neighbouring hotel and was of good quality.... More

Very well located in a nice, solid, classic, period terraced building; good, reasonably-priced places to eat nearby. Room are warm, clean, and well-kept. Staff were pleasant and helpful. There are kitchenette facilities and there'll be a free newspaper outside your door in the morning. Free wifi is quite limited; premium broadband costs GBP10 extra per night. Breakfast is extra too.... More
