At no time did we feel like valued customers and the reception area is uncomfortable and cold. Reception staff were pleasant within their duties but everyone was being checked in at the same time after sitting in what felt like a station waiting room. Not somewhere I will stay again and it is the second unhappy Travelodge experience so shall...

I had to stay here when storm Doris meant there were no trains out of kings cross. They say any port in a storm but this place is desperate. Room 418 had a really grotty bathroom, peeling paint on the walls and a general miserable feel. From the dingy lift, to the grubby corridors to the poor room. I thought...

The room smelled of drains, very worn décor including a cracked wash basin. Room had been hastily cleaned but not thoroughly. Good location and nearby parking but overall very poor room for a Travelodge.

On arrival I got a feeling the place was not going to be a patch on the premier inn I had stayed in just a ten min walk up the road 5 days earlier. Walking through the door it felt unwelcoming and looked very old and in need of a complete overhaul. The reception staff were friendly but that was...

I would seriously advise anyone not to book this hotel. The hotel is falling to bits. Mould and gaps in window let a draft in making the room constantly cold. The bath was stained and plumbing problems meant faeces came through the pipes and sat in the toilet. The only good thing about this hotel was that the bedding and...

Travelodge is a no-frills budget hotel which fits a purpose. My stay was fine, but unremarkable. The food was passable but had a 'packet' feel. The girl on the desk was pleasant, but sounded like she was reading from a script rather than actually engaging with us. The hotel and my room were clean, but everything looked tired, especially the...

I will start by saying all staff are great - friendly, welcoming and helpful. We stayed for a short break and ate in restaurant for breakfast, which was fabulous value at £5.95 (£0 for kids). Reception staff booked in our luggage and when we returned later in evening, were helpful when offering advice and organising 2 rooms close on same...

great location for Kings Cross station, a short walk away. Friendly reception and breakfast staff. Breakfast was lovely and of a very good quality. the room was to the back of the hotel and the noise from the busy road at the front couldn't be heard, we slept really well. After reading some reviews I did have some trepidation but...

This is a classic budget experience. Ok the reception & bar cafe area dont look too bad & the reception staff were polite and helpful. The lifts/corridors/carpets are all in need of refurbishment.Twin room we had had very small single beds but was clean & room decor fine. Bathrooms small but is adequate for price you pay. The bar stops...

This hotel badly needs refurbishment. Had to wait 15 minutes to check in, one person on desk trying to book people in and answer the phone, poor girl was run off her feet. There were no towels or hand wash provided, had to ask at reception, but was too busy - see above- I was asked to take them up...

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
