My husband and I just arrived home from a lovely 3-night stay at St. Ermin’s in London. I really can’t say enough good things about it. The courtyard and landscaping were beautiful. The property is historic and charming. I would eagerly stay here again.

The location is wonderful—just a two-minute walk from St. James’s tube station and an easy, pleasant walk from the Houses of Parliament (Big Ben), Westminster Abbey, the Horse Guard’s Parade. We even walked back to the hotel one evening from Trafalgar Square and found it a pleasant walk. It was also simple (and very economical) to take the Underground from Heathrow to and from the hotel—we only had to change trains once from the Piccadilly Line to the District Line.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. Breakfast was lovely as well. My husband enjoyed his full English breakfast, while I tend to enjoy fresh fruit and yogurt. We both found plenty to choose from. We also enjoyed eggs cooked to order. (The breakfast was complimentary with our Bonvoy Platinum status.)

The reviews are correct—the rooms are on the small side. We used Marriott Nightly Upgrade Awards to upgrade to a Junior Suite. It had a king bed in a bedroom separated by a door from a sitting area with a sofa (which could be made into a sofabed). We had coffee and tea in the room as well as a small fridge. They brought us cans of water and chocolate bars each day. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the hotel room and were perfectly satisfied.

Other interesting positives were that the hairdryer worked great and was not attached to the bathroom wall. Also, we always consider it a positive in Europe when the shower is designed well and does not leak—the shower here didn’t leak at all!

Any complaints we had were very minor. The bathroom was quite small—only one sink and definitely only room for one person at a time. The toilet paper was hard to reach and tended to fall off its bar—and we’re not unfit or overweight—it was situated a good bit behind the toilet. We would have liked to have a luggage rack or two in the room, although we managed to fit both suitcases on a bench in the bedroom.

We had an amazing stay here and would love to come back sometime!

Our stay at St. Ermin's Hotel went above and beyond our expectations. The hotel is beautiful, inside and out, and the staff was kind and very helpful. We are a family of five (two adults, two teenagers, one child) and stayed in the family suite. It was the perfect size for us especially with two full bathrooms. The room was comfortable, beautifully appointed, very clean and there were lots of great touches that added to a pleasant stay-- plenty of complimentary water in the fridge and bars of chocolate replenished each night, with Nespresso coffee and assorted teas available as well. The front desk sent our youngest a tall glass of milk at no charge when it was too late to find an open place in the area, which we really appreciated. Given the hotels amazing location (around the corner from the St. James tube and within walking distance of many wonderful London sites in Westminster), you might expect the hotel to fall short on some of the other things like not updating furniture or uncomfortable beds but everything was absolutely perfect during our stay. Highly recommend this spot!

We took a family vacation to Europe over the Thanksgiving Holidays. Our group included three generations - grandparents, parents, and two grandsons (one teen and one pre-teen). On the London leg of our trip we had the pleasure of staying at a hotel that some friends from church highly recommended, called The St. Ermin’s. We all agreed that it was just perfect for our family. The location is fantastic - a lovely area and so convenient for seeing much of what London has to offer in the way of tourist attractions, restaurants, and entertainment. Absolutely everything is either within walking distance or close enough to the underground train station (just around the corner from the hotel) that nothing you want to do or see is off limits due to distance. The hotel is a wonderful combination of charm and elegance and at the same time, gives the feeling that you are at home. The breakfast at The St. Ermin’s is second to none! If you make a reservation here, be certain to include the breakfast option! You will be so glad that you did. The hotel restaurant food is just great! A nice little surprise to us was the complimentary happy hour in the lobby for guests in the late afternoon/early evening. I believe that it is offered Monday through Thursday. Such a nice little touch with some great little appetizers and a good selection of wine! The hotel Bar has great atmosphere - sort of a comfortable, yet sophisticated dimly lit living room with chairs by a fireplace for enjoying a cocktail or glass of wine at the end of the day. So nice! Now on to the staff… I only wish that my aging brain had the ability to remember names! I’m just awful when it comes to hanging on to a name, but I will say that the entire staff at this hotel is exceptional. Everyone, from the time you arrive into the driveway, until the day that you leave to return to the airport, is so very gracious, friendly, and genuinely helpful. The Concierge staff was great in making recommendations for dinner reservations - the Bell staff was so efficient and helpful in getting transportation arranged and baggage handling done, and the restaurant staff was always ready with absolutely anything you wanted or needed! The Manager of Guest Experiences (I think his title was anyway) whom we met during breakfast, was very helpful in giving us recommendations for things to see and do and he even arranged to have a bottle of wine sent to our room! Again, another nice little touch that leaves a great impression on guests. In closing, I should also add that we felt that this hotel was a better value than some comparable hotels in the area in terms of all of the little extras and the total experience. We hated to leave and all agreed that when we return to London, we will stay at The St. Ermin’s again!

The title sums it up-I'm guessing other reviewers must not have been solo female travelers using points (& cash, for the record!) aka the bane of the hotel travel industry. My profile w/Marriott shows high floor near elevator-I was on the 2nd floor & as far from the elevator as they could put me. In the reservation notes I specifically asked for a room overlooking the entrance to the hotel-my room overlooks Falkland House & the Tube entrance in the back. The night I arrived I asked the bellman for a bucket of ice (as there is none on the floor)-I'm still waiting for him to return w/that. The hairdryer the hotel provides isn't compatible w/the outlet in the bathroom-according to the young lady @ the front desk, 'that's standard-no bathrooms in Britain are wired for hairdryers'. When I explained to her that the outlet in the bedroom was stripped, meaning the dryer wouldn't stay plugged in, she told me the concierge informed her there wasn't a single extension cord anywhere in the hotel. At that point I gave up. The bed isn't the worst I've slept on but not the best Marriott bed I've slept on, either. While they've done a pretty good job sound proofing the windows, they have not done a good job light proofing them-light pours in around the window treatments which translated into very little sleep for me overall (had the sofa in the living room been a sleeper I would have slept there as that room was darker than the bedroom). Location is great, especially for anyone using the Tube, & many of the must see sites in London are walkable from here. Christmas decorations in the lobby are lovely & the 1 dinner I had here was very nice, especially as it was 'real' room service (something Marriott's in the US could take a lesson from).

While this hotel certainly boasts a prime location, I found the overall experience to be underwhelming given the high price tag. As someone who's traveled to both London and New York, I’d say the rates here are eye-watering—making NYC feel like a bargain in comparison.

Though charming, the junior suite was surprisingly small. The bathroom, in particular, was one of the smallest I’ve ever encountered in a hotel. For the price, I expected more space and luxury. Additionally, there were no USB charging ports, and I had to move the nightstand to find an outlet to charge my devices—very inconvenient. The room also had an overpowering fragrance that didn’t dissipate even with the windows open. I wasn’t thrilled when I returned to find the windows closed after I had left them open to air out the room. It felt like an invasion of privacy. That said, the bed was comfortable, and I did appreciate the complimentary glass of wine offered at 5:30 PM—though I wasn’t around to take advantage of it.

The breakfast experience was not what I expected for such a pricey hotel. Upon arrival, you are directed to wait in line, where your room number is checked. On my first day, I had to wait an additional 5 minutes just to be "shown the ropes" of the buffet—an experience I found off-putting. The buffet itself was standard for a British breakfast, but nothing extraordinary. I also didn’t like being told where to sit. I prefer the freedom to choose my own seat. They should have a more efficient system—one person to check in guests and another to give the buffet "tour."
That said, the coffee was excellent, which was a nice touch.

For a hotel of this caliber, I expected a 5-star experience in all areas, but there were some significant disappointments. One that stood out was the man attending the canapés during evening hours—he appeared visibly sick. I left immediately when I saw how unwell he looked; it's unacceptable for staff to work while clearly ill.

The location is great, but the price simply isn’t justified by the experience. Given the high cost, I expected far more in terms of both service and amenities. For the same money, you could find better options elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at St. Ermin’s Hotel. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us to improve and refine the service we provide to our valued guests. We’re delighted to hear that you found our location convenient and enjoyed the comfort of our beds, as well as the quality of our coffee and the complimentary wine reception. However, we sincerely regret that certain aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Regarding room size, we understand that space can be a concern, especially in a city like London where historical architecture sometimes influences room layouts. That said, we do offer a range of room categories, and we would be happy to assist in selecting a more spacious option should you choose to stay with us again. Your comments on in-room amenities, including the availability of USB ports, are noted, however we do have them on the outlets by the nightstand, perhaps you missed them ? We also apologise for any discomfort caused by the room fragrance and the housekeeping service closing your windows. Our team aims to ensure the utmost comfort for guests, but we understand your perspective and will remind our staff to be mindful of guest preferences. Your observations about the breakfast service are invaluable, and we appreciate your suggestions for improving efficiency. We will certainly review our check-in process and seating arrangements to enhance the overall dining experience. Most importantly, we are deeply concerned about your comments regarding a staff member appearing unwell. The health and safety of both our guests and team members are of the highest priority, and we will investigate this matter to ensure our protocols are strictly upheld. We regret that your experience did not reflect the level of service we strive to provide. Should you choose to give us another opportunity, we would love to ensure a much-improved stay. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly if we can assist in any way.

My husband and I stayed at St. Ermin's for seven nights at the beginning of September. This grand old luxury property is located on a quiet street within walking distance of top attractions like Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, British Museum, St. James's Park, and so on. The lobby staff were more than happy to provide directions, help us plan outings, give recommendations, and arrange taxis for us.

The hotel itself is beautiful inside and out, with historical connections to US intelligence during WWII, Winston Churchill, and members of parliament. Our room on the third floor was cozy, quiet, and comfortable, with a spacious closet and enough room to spread out our suitcases. The bathroom had a shower but no tub. I'm not sure what our room category was as it seemed a bit larger than the online description of a superior double. When a room upgrade became available, we were comfortable enough to stay put.

Most days we had breakfast in the hotel because we enjoyed the food, ambiance, and service. Food and guest experience manager Nahid Yasin was there every morning to greet us warmly and ask us if we needed anything. I can't comment on dinner in the hotel as we walked to a few of the nearby restaurants for dinner.

During our stay the hotel hosted daily receptions from 5:30 to 6:30 that included complimentary wine, snacks, and a variety of entertainment. The weather was good, and the crowd spilling outside reminded us of an outdoor cocktail party. The lovely outdoor terrace on the second floor was open during our stay as well.

Our stay at St. Ermin's was memorable, pleasant, and bragworthy. Our wise choice of hotel really took our time in London to the next level of enjoyment. We hope to return someday!

Spent a long weekend at St Ermin’s Hotel and found the hotel staff and surroundings to be faultless. We were made welcome from the second the concierge opened our taxi door on our arrival until the second he closed it as we left.
The whole hotel was spotless and our room was relaxing with a home from home feel about it making you feel warm and relaxed. The bed was comfortable with a selection of pillows.
The breakfast served within a stunning restaurant area was amazing with everything available that you need to start the day off.
The staff couldn’t have made us feel any more welcome and were on hand at every second to make your stay comfortable and relaxing throughout our stay.
The location for all tourist attractions is very central.
We thoroughly recommend staying here and will definitely be visiting again soon.

My parents and I stayed at St. Ermin's for about 2 weeks during Aug 2024. It was an absolute pleasure. We received a warm welcome email from Elizabeth (their guest relations executive) several days before check-in. When we arrived, she not only greeted us in person, but also left a hand-written card with multiple welcome gifts in the room. On Day 4 we were upgraded to a junior suite (which was extremely helpful since we have 3 ppl). Almost everyday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm there was a summer happy hour, where small interactive shows were offered with wine/champaign/mocktails. I like the breakfast options (btw their buffet also includes poached/fried/boiled egg, spinach, and black pudding - you just need to let your waiter know). The location is unbeatable - it's literally surrounded by St. James park, buckingham palace, big ben, and Westminster Abbey (all within 10 mins walk). I highly recommend this hotel.

Being in central London, I was expecting a very 'compact' room but our room was very spacious with a king size bed, sitting area, large closet and a refrigerator. But what made this property so extraordinary was the attentive staff. Anything you needed, from getting a cab, dinner reservation, tickets to museums or theatre there was always someone there to attend to your every need. The breakfast was very good and the happy hour was an unexpected bonus. Not only was there wine but passed hours d overs that were delicious, not the usual crackers and cheese. In addition, there was entertainment at the happy hour from singers, dancers and magicians. We were there for a week and every single staff member was so friendly and helpful. There was also many staff members on hand at all times so you never had to wait long to get whatever you needed. The location was within walking distance to so many things, but it was set back on a side street so the atmosphere was very calm and peaceful, hard to believe you were in the center of London. We wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting London again.

Thanks for the warm hospitality extended by the hotel staffs during check in. The concierge staff is kind to remind us to pay for congestion charge when he see our rented car. This is extremely important for tourist who drive in London.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for room upgrade. My family and I are truly delighted with the room, and we deeply appreciate your kind attention to detail in making our stay comfortable.

The breakfast here is one of the best in town, offering a scrumptious spread with a vast variety of options. The restaurant staff is always friendly and welcoming, with smiles that brighten the atmosphere.

The concierge offered good suggestion in transport arrangement and safety to explore night life in London.

We celebrated my son’s birthday here last year, which became a treasured memory for us, and we’re thrilled to be back at the London St Ermis Hotel to celebrate this special day once again.

Thank you very much for your attention to our special requests, and for making our stay so memorable.
