At last we've found a place to stay near London that we want to return to. We can only agree with all the previous comments and add that we could not fault it (a very, very rare occurrence in my experience). Jane was awesome and we hope to make another visit before too long.

Not much more to add - Jane does a magnificent job of making her guests welcome and provides a superb breakfast. The house is spotless, plus it's handy for lots of places. There are two railway stations a short walk away, so you can be in central London in twenty minutes. There is decent choice of eating places nearby (we...

From our first arrival to our departure we were made very welcome by Jane. Her attention to detail was excellent and all the facilities were first class. The most striking part of our stay was how genuinely nice Jane is - rare anywhere but most unusual in London accommodation. My wife loved the little touches like various types of tea,...

We recently spent 2 nights at this perfect B & B during the hottest time of the year and Jane made every effort to ensure that our top floor room was room was cool and comfortable both day and night. Jane was a perfect host who made our stay in her beautiful home most enjoyable and relaxing. Our room was...

It is a mark of high honor for me when at the end of a lovely stay I invite my host/hostess to visit me in my own home/country and MEAN it! Can't say enough good things about Jane and the Lilac Door. The LD is close to London, but far enough away for dreamy nights under fluffy duvets with the...

I'm not sure at which point we mutually decided that this was the best place where we had bed and breakfasted in London. Was it the warm and friendly reception? The instant offer of drinks on arrival? The supremely effective black-out blinds (essential for a night-time photophobe such as myself)? The delicious - and extensive - breakfast? The proper understanding...

Me and my girlfriend stayed at The Lilac Door for a week in February. Booking was very easy via email and already then we knew that Jane would be a wonderful host; we received quick responses to our emails and for example a detailed description on how to reach the Lilac Door. On our arrival (early morning on Monday), Jane...

In March we spent a week in London for a family wedding. The best decision we made was to stay at The Lilac Door in Dulwich in fact it was one of the major highlights of our 4 week holiday. Jane was so very welcoming and the house was brilliant, it was clean, spacious and very homely. The rooms were...

My wife and I stayed at the Lilac Door while visiting our grandchildren in Dulwich. Jane is a wonderful hostess; our room at the top of the house was very comfortable and well equipped. And the breakfasts are superb and plentiful - you can skip lunch! A great bolt hole in South London.

I have stayed a couple of times at The Lilac Door. I initially chose it because of the excellent location with trains straight in to central London plus the charms of Dulwich Village are a fairly short stroll away. What I got in return was real bang for the buck with a clean, comfortable and stylish bedroom. On my first...
