As most of ppl said, this place has a great location - less than 15 minutes walk to tube and bus stations, Tate Morden is just opposite, very near to Shakespeare Globe and lots of restaurants and pubs nearby. Also, the breakfast is really good in terms of a B&B standard- a variety of food to choose from with coffee,...

Have just completed our third stay at LSE Bankside and have no hesitation in recommending it to fellow travellers. Breakfast is GREAT. Location is as good as it gets. Don't expect a 5* hotel, this is student accommodation, but expect privacy, simple beds and linen, clean towels, peaceful rooms. Small rooms but ample space for those wanting a place to...

Stayed here for three days, accommodation was very basic (no fridge in room, but access to communal kitchen), but clean and comfortable. The room was very hot, however we were able to secure a small fan from the desk staff (but don't count on it). The hotel is in a good Bankside location, behind the Tate Modern, and five minutes...

Very good value for money. Rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. Location was perfect for us as we wanted to visit Tate Modern and LSE is directly behind it. The staff were helpful and polite. We arrived too early for the room but we were allowed to drop off our bags in a secure place. The...

Feels like going back to school...cos why not :D With the affordable (steal) price, this location is SUPERB, Tate Modern art galleries stood right opposite the building as you walk out the entrance. Shakespeare's Globe is a few hops away before you get to London Eye on foot (about 10-15 mins walk). Grab some snacks at nearby convenience store, COOP...

I stayed at LSE Bankside House with my girlfriend for one evening in August 2016. This is a student accommodation just behind Tate Modern. The decor of the building is rather dated and does look like it has seen better days. But don't be put off by the looks, the price and location of the accommodation is fantastic for London....

Please be advised that this IS NOT A HOTEL. This is a DORM of London School of Economics. If you are a person that is used to having air conditioning, tranquility, drinking water from your room, and a television in the room book a HOTEL for $30 more a night somewhere else. PROS: Location is right by the Globe and...

Hi Aliza, Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback regarding your recent stay with us at LSE Bankside House. We are delighted you enjoyed the location of the property and our breakfast service. Amazing location opposite Tate Modern on the banks of the Thames. Beautiful building, and our room had a fantastic view of The Shard, what a bonus! We booked 2 twin rooms and both were very clean and functional. Both rooms were student single rooms with an extra bed in the room. This was fine for a short stay as the...

If you want to enjoy London but you don't want to pay a fortune to stay near the city center, this is a very good solution. The rooms are very basic, normally used for university students, that's why they're available only from June to October. Our room had three beds, a desk, a bedside table and a wardrobe. The bathroom...

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
