This is a nice enough place, but the decor is very dated and the rooms are small, feeling more like a large closet than a bedroom. The carpet has not been laid correctly and so you have to be careful not to trip over. On the up side, the staff are pleasant enough and it is handy to the rail... More

We booked a triple en suite room. I was quite disappointed that we were lead to the basement. The garbage area was right outside our window, the wi-fi did not work down there (worked great in the lobby). Upon asking, I was informed that we didn't make any special requests for a floor/room. Of course, I responded that I didn't... More

I thank this reviewer for his very fair comments and he's raised a good point in that he prefers an upper floor room and, quite reasonably, couldn't know in advance that the room allocated to him wouldn't be to his liking. When we can we do place our customers in rooms of their choice so it's natural that our many... More

I have stayed at The George on numerous occasions, but I won't stay again. The antipodean receptionist has ensured that. She was extremely ill-mannered and when I wrote to the owner he failed to respond to my complaint. Basically, the receptionist called me a liar when I asked for a discount which the hotel normally gives to the organisation I... More

The service at the George was excellent, we could not fault it. Staff friendly and helpful. We booked two en-suite rooms, they were fine for what we needed although the floors seemed to slope a little though this did not cause us any problems, they were clean and tidy and the beds were even made everyday. The location is excellent,... More

I've stayed in two other discount, B&B hotels in the Bloomsbury area of London and the George may be my favorite. This sort of B&B is a great bargain, but you have to adjust your expectations a bit if you've only traveled in the US. So, first, the negatives when contrasted with standard US hotels/motels: No elevator/lift. Even the front... More

Our family of 6 had two triple-bed rooms for 5 nights. Three of us were in the basement near the front, and although we sometimes heard a bit of noise from the street, it didn't really keep us awake at all. The other three were in a room on the first floor with lots of light, but a little less... More

I stayed at the George for 2 full weeks in July. It is not a luxury place but it really feels like a home away from home. The location is wonderful. In the neighbourhood you have several pubs, restaurants, grocery stores, bookstore and laundry machine. I felt quite safe walking at night. The staff was great. They helped me to... More

I checked out the reviews on trip advisor and The George Hotel's website, and everything pointed to The George being a good place to stay. We booked a family room based upon the pictures on the website. (Don't be fooled). Upon entering the hotel, the first thing you see are suit cases chained together to protect against them from being... More

We tried to satisfy the guest's requirements but were obviously unsuccessful. As the guest wrote, we gave them a different room but this hasn't seemed to be the answer. Maintenance on the radiator was being worked on by a plumber when they arrived and was cleared up quite shortly afterwards. Guests who arrive before their room is ready can leave... More

I stayed at the George for a full week at the end of June. And then I liked it so much that I came back at the very end of my trip in July for two more nights. It really feels like a home away from home. The location is awesome. It is on a cute crescent of simlar hotels... More

Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
