Very disappointed to check in to a building site - reception was dirty and dusty with builders coming and going. Wires hanging from ceiling and floor covered I dust sheets. We were not even pre warned of this by email or telephone and when we mentioned our dissatisfaction nothing was done to help. This trip was booked a few months ago and not what I expected.
I absolutely could not fault this hotel. From the warm welcome from Dario on the front desk to the complimentary Twirl left in the room to thank us for our repeat custom, the experience was just perfect. We are repeat customers with Premier Inn but this was our first time at this particular hotel. We have passed it many times on our day trips to London and always thought it seemed a great place to stay. We previously stayed at the Premier Inn Borough Market which is further up on the High Street, which is a good hotel, but this one on Bankside had the edge and if I had to choose, this one would be a winner hands-down. It is so well-located for a lot of things: the pub next door, the Borough Market, London Bridge Station, and the Southbank is a wonderful place to be - go east or west and you'll be sure to find interesting things to see and do. We had room 205 which faces into the little courtyard the is formed by both the hotel and the back of the pub. It was very quiet, and I am only speculating but I imagine it could be noisy if you were in one of the rooms facing out onto the main thoroughfare as there is plenty of foot traffic at all times of day, and when we left on Tuesday morning there were at least 2 lorries making deliveries. This possibility would absolutely not stop me staying there again though. The room itself was immaculate. The bed was very comfy, the room was spacious with lots of room for our luggage, and the shower was incredible. Also, there was air conditioning which was a blessing since it was very warm and sunny during our time in London. I cannot recommend this hotel enough - as it stands right now, it would be my first choice for any overnight stay in London unless I had a particular bed to base myself in another district. …
This Premier Inn has a decent location, staff were friendly and rooms a good size, a little dated but clean. Air conditioning wasn't working but we could open a window if needed ( ground floor room ) Didn't spend much time in the room but we slept well and would return if in the area.
Fabulous location near the Tate Modern, Globe, Borough Market etc. Hotel had some odd quirks- no breakfast available although there's plenty of eateries nearby. The staff were friendly at reception but the room was not serviced (for no real reason except to save manpower I suspect). It was basic- the desk has chips off the laminate and the floor lino was all bubbled up. But, strangest of all was the bed- the actual sheet was a foot too short for the bed! And, we discovered we had been lying on the mattress protector.
Premier Inn are usually clean and comfy, so it was a surprise to find a really dirty, un-changed bed. This would be horrible any time, but with Covid it's scary and disgusting. Helpful, apologetic staff did their best but it's hard to get over something as nasty as other peoples' blood-stained sheets. The whole place needs a good clean and new carpets in communal areas. Great location on Bankside, but only if you have a high tolerance for grottiness.
