The hotel is in an excellent location just off Camden main thoroughfare which makes it easy to get anywhere on foot; however it does mean that the rooms can be a little noisy. Welcomed warmly by Shail at the front desk, the experience continued in a positive way right the way to my departure. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the room had all that I needed, especially the corner room overlooking Camden Lock - a great vista! The rooms are a little tired and could do with a few fixtures & fittings upgrade, but it didn’t negatively impact my stay (or score 😊). I didn’t have breakfast as I headed out for that, but I would definitely return if in the area. And that’s a strong vote of confidence for me!
Was a lovely experience, the staff members were friendly, helpful and professional. Breakfast was amazing. The only bad thing I would say is the bed was just too soft for my liking and I didn’t have a good night sleep but we would come back.
Not my first visit to this hotel, I’m fact been a bunch of times it’s always clean and right in middle of Camden. Staff are good most noteworthy Bianca who works reception and who is always a joy and very professional.
Why only I* because despite the complimentary room upgrade which was a nice gesture and the complimentary drinks because it was a special occasion. It was an average stay, a miserable breakfast and we arrived home after the stay with items missing from our luggage. Suite was nice and spacious overlooking the lock - but noisy as there's a busy Wetherspoons directly opposite with all the people activity you would expect in a busy Camden venue. Miserable breakfast because of the fact we didn't prebook but decided to eat their on one day, having been interrogated and eventually allowed to eat (we had no problems paying for it) as staff member just made a song and dance about it and needed a voucher so we had to add money into our room card so it could be debited However breakfast was at best best bland, luke warm + probably cooked several hours prior and kept warm under lights, then served on cold plates in a cool dining room - which by the time you had got a coffee it was stone cold and far from enjoyable. GF items were open and liable to cross contamination rather than individual small boxes of cereal as was the cooked items from the self serve counter staff showed which were GF and which wasn’t but people were using same spoons and utensils which cross contaminates everything . If you have any kind of allergies or intolerance AVOID, AVOID, AVOID Biggest issue we had was items of medication went missing either left in room and disappeared off the face of the earth or removed from our cases when we stored them behind reception pending taxi arriving - either way when we returned to collect our cases which took an absolute age) from collection to arriving home the cases NEVER left our sight yet one case had its combination changed to a totally random number another had items of strong pain medication missing. Medication which has literally travelled the world with us to numerous countries and never has one single tablet every been misplaced, lost, stolen or missing. Summary an OK hotel in a good location, breakfast give it a wide berth and eat somewhere else local and if you do leave your cases for temp storage behind reception ensure you leave absolutely nothing of importance and you have additional locks, alarms or security fitted to avoid tampering. Have discussed and chased several times to no avail and only received abrupt responses to date #neveragain…
Had our reservations about staying after reading negative reviews but we needn’t have worried. The staff here were friendly and worked hard to make sure we had everything we needed. Our room had a superb view of the lock which definitely made for great people watching. Sure the room was a bit worn but very clean. The breakfast buffet was good with the choice and quality as expected for a Holiday Inn. The location was fabulous.
Absolutely brilliant.Very good location. Great atmosphere, food and drinks were great. Staff is very friendly. They do an amazing job. Congratulations. Definitely recommended and for sure will visit again soon.
Good location but the room we were allocated was dismal. Chipped bath, dirty mirror, grubby walls and a depressing view. Breakfast was ok and staff friendly, but the decor is dated and in need of replacing. Not worth the £260 for one night!
I always prefer the smaller boutique accommodations to the big chain hotels. But Xmas period occupancy levels demanded that I needed to make an exception this time. I had previously stayed in a Holiday Inn many times in Sydney while working and that was always very comfortable and definitely met 4-5 star criteria. So I expected something similar when I booked at the Camden Town HI. The only 4-5 star criterion met was the price. What a dump. After a cold welcome at check-in we found that none of our powerpoints were working. That was rectified when housekeeping turned on a secret switch. No fridge - it had been removed from its space in the furniture. Drinks in the bar had to be settled with cash or credit card as ordered - could not be charged to our room. Left after three sleep deprived nights due to terrible pillows and an overheated room (having turned the heating off). Stay here at your peril.…
Extremely average, over priced, poor service. Difficult check in, poorly prepared for our arrival, room barely clean. Accused of a declined CC on check in, which it wasn’t. Unfriendly staff, unable to help.
This was easily one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at in my life. The customer service is the most shocking I've ever come across. It was a business trip and my room was pre-paid for... yet I was called by the front desk that evening asking why my room hadn't been paid - it obviously had as why would I have been allowed into my room? Then they tried the same thing with breakfast the next morning, and told me it wasn't paid for and tried to make me leave the breakfast until it was sorted! Incredibly rude. I was booked for two nights, all pre-paid and booked via the company I was working for. Then in the afternoon after breakfast they forced me to move to another room. This was a business trip, I had travelled across Europe and was very tired... I wanted to stay in the same room as requested to catch up on sleep. But no, now I had to pack up all my belongings and move rooms... I was made to feel so uncomfortable with each interaction, even though everything was paid for... I of course even checked due to everything that had happened and yes it was indeed paid. Yet they still behaved like it hadn't for some reason. It was all very odd. Then I had some business drinks and had to put a deposit down on my personal card, which was fine. Again the interaction was rude and a bit strange... the manager was very off. Even though all these things had gone wrong with my booking, I was still met with rudeness. And then, as if it couldn't get any worst, a few days later I found that my personal card was charged twice. So I rang to sort this and the same rude man at reception simply wouldn't accept my card had been charged twice when I asked him to investigate. I was so frustrated explaining that this is what my bank statement said and then finally he hung up on me! NEVER again... Avoid like the plague!!! I will be recommending to anyone I work with, anyone I speak to even - to never book Camden Lock Holiday Inn. Hands down the worst service I've ever experienced. …
