I stayed in this hotel in November on a business trip. It was really ideal for my standards and located near to the tube station. I actually came back in December and stayed on my second business trip too.
Overall very positive experience. Only thing needed is a better entertainment package in the rooms. Compared to other hotels this is where this hotel lacks. Service was great from the staff and the feel of the rooms is very modern and sleek.
As per the other reviews and in agreement with Marianne's, you would expect full service of the hotel to be running upon its reopening or to be contacted prior of any changes as there was nothing on booking.com in a notice prior to booking. The bar and restaurant are completely closed and upon arrival had to enter through a fire door. Manager is rude and takes no responsibility just blamed a Pandemic (which effect everyone!) and booking.com. To call themselves a boutique 4-star hotel, I would highly disagree as that is not how you should treat your customers.
Staff at the hotel are friendly, helpful and efficient. Centrally located, with good access to transport links, shops, restaurants, cafes and parks. Clean and comfortable rooms. Would be even better when a breakfast service and room service commences.
AVOID. We booked through Expedia.com and so are used to communication ahead of our visit if anything is out of the ordinary. We didn’t get any warnings, so, we expected business as usual… On arrival it became clear that HX are only just reopening post-Covid. The restaurant and bar are closed so no room service or breakfast is available which is a shame if you’re arriving late. Tea, coffee and water is available in the room, but no mini bar. The room itself was stained (carpet) and tired (furniture) and the air was stale. I wondered if this used to be a smoking room? Without the usual throws and cushions the room was slightly more dismal than a much cheaper Premier Inn would have been, and the mattress and pillows were insufficient. The last straw was arriving back from a day out to be told there was no house-keeping service. Our wet towels remained on the floor, dirty cups unwashed etc. Completely unacceptable given the nightly rate of >£150 per night. We were connected to the Manager who took no responsibility and in fact, two argumentative phone calls later we have given up looking for anything further from HX. Just don’t do it. The positive reviews are pre-Covid - they’re clearly not ready to reopen and don’t deserve your business.…
