This is a love letter to the divine staff at South Place. To Luca and Bruna and the entire FOH, the restaurant staff, and the housekeepers...Thank you for making my disaster-laden, extended stay absolutely lovely. Your attention and kindnesses soothed many a ruffled feather, and I cannot wait to return for more. The rooms were intelligently designed (finally a hairdryer plug beside the mirror!) and super comfy. All the amenities and extras, thoughtful and most welcome. (IV drips in your room...hangover cure, to be sure) The location was a huge surprise, and tremendously convenient. Thank you and See you soon!!
An outstanding hotel in the heart of London. Consistently great service and amenities all round. The rooms are great and the bar and restaurant also. Special shout out to Jolita for her attention to detail and care! She is a superstar. The team overall is fantastic!
South Place Hotel is conveniently located within a very short walk to Liverpool Street. The station serves the National Rail and the London Underground, connecting to Heathrow Express in Paddington, a short ride from Liverpool Street. The hotel is modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. I really appreciated the personal touch, from reception to welcome cards with hotel and city information. It was an excellent stay, adding character to a routine business trip. The amazing staff made a difference.
On the hottest night of the year (at that point) in London, I decided to treat myself to a night away from my steamy air bnb. Was able to get a great last-minute deal through one of the discount websites. Room as large with a great bed and all the amenities. Bathtub and shower were incredibly good (though a bit leaky). You could disappear in that huge tub, or invite in a friend. Would happily stay again.
We've stayed in the South Place hotel a number of times pre-Covid, when it was absolutely excellent. It's a lovely hotel, good rooms when you book a larger one, great bathrooms and the location is fantastic (especially now with ability to access the Elizabeth Line from Liverpool Street . However having stayed 3 times over the Summer, it's been a real disappointment. Aircon during time times we stayed was poor (acknowledging it was a very hot summer in London, but still...) We had to have technicians come to our room and even changed rooms on one occasion, when the aircon clearly just wasn't working effectively. Wifi is poor on certain sides of the building. However the biggest disappointment was the staff at reception. They just don't really seem to care that much - and if this was an inexpensive hotel, that might be ok. But it's not. They are not trained properly and perhaps are inexperienced but the level of help is poor, issues handling is inadequate. I had a problem with an invoice and had to escalate twice and then ask to speak to a manager before I got it resolved. We were overcharged and again had to wait to have it resolved. The aircon issue was like a scene from Fawlty Towers - all well meaning but ultimately farcical and poorly handled. Despite a long history of staying here, and having loved this hotel in the past, we will not stay again.…
An amazing experience. The food was delicious and so well presented. The staff were extremely knowledgeable on the food ingredients and the different wines that complemented the food. The staff were helpful and special thanks to Alex, Mia, Francesco and Dimitri for making a memorable evening.
I went for brunch on a saturday and it was the best yet. The food and drinks were quality and affordable. The one person who made it even better was Jakir. He made the experience extra special, he was very polite and attentive to our needs. I will go back just because of Jakir's service and of course the food.
My studio room was very nice. Bathroom and bedroom facilities good. Sitting area bang and olufsen tv and mini bar. Tea, coffee and robes provided. Dyson hairdryer, nice toiletries. Electronic black out blinds at the windows. Good quiet location, easy access to Liverpool Street station and shops. Turndown service provided and good varied breakfast in the restaurant. My booking was pre-paid and guaranteed as a business booking, but on check I was asked for my mobile number, email address, photo ID and a swipe of my credit card to cover incidentals. £175 in my case. I queried this because, as a UK citizen I tend not to carry ID in this country. I was told I would not be able to check in without producing the evidence. Luckily I had my driving license with me! I was told I was booked in on a room only basis, although it clearly showed breakfast was included on the confirmation. The receptionist said they would check it out and ring me at 8.30 am in the morning to let me know whether breakfast was paid for. No call came but I rang reception and it was confirmed I had a breakfast allowance of up to £25. I ensured I kept within the allowance for the 3 days but additional charges were added to my bill when I checked out. When queried, they were cancelled off the bill. Having been looked up and down by the 2 receptionists on arrival I can only conclude they judged me unworthy of staying at their establishment. The other receptionists, restaurant staff, housekeeping etc were polite and professional.…
Delicious breakfast served by smiling, charming staff Jabir and Tatiana . Highly recommend this lovely hotel . Super cool air conditioning was a welcome relief from the very warm conditions outside Eggs florentine well presented and cooked perfectly
Wow what a great hotel. I stayed here on my wedding night (my wife was here the night before the wedding too). Due to getting married the hotel gave us some free champagne with breakfast and they gave us a late checkout for free - which was great. All of the staff were very welcoming and they congratulated my wife as she walked out of the hotel in her dress. The location is absolutely amazing as was the view from our room. The room itself was big and it had the best technology that I've ever seen in a hotel. Everything single thing was the best brand - Dyson hairdryers, Bang and Olufsen TV and so on. An added bonus was that the room had automatic shutters on the windows. You won't regret staying here. Thank you to all of the staff.
