Our stay was a weekend break. On arrival we upgraded our room so we could have twin beds.. This room was definitely not executive. The sofa was so stained it looked like a crime scene. No bins were emptied or any housekeeping because of Covid, we didn't know this so had dirty linen and overflowing bins. You also aren't told that if there are greedy guests at breakfast then items aren't replaced but you can have a smile and a shrug of the shoulders. Unfortunately they aren't the same satisfaction as a croissant. I gave this feedback to reception, another lovely smile ,filled in a feedback form and sent an email. No response 2 weeks later ,I'm not expecting much, maybe another smile and a shrug. I wouldn't stay again, I think there is better value for money. Shame as it's a good location.

We spent a few nights at the Grange- I did expect it to be a little tired from the reviews but it was the best value hotel in the area I wanted. The location is great for sightseeing although the rooms are a bit dated. The staff were all very friendly and helpful unfortunately the first room we were given hadn’t been cleaned properly but the manager was very apologetic and moved us to another room which was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was fine to get us going- fruit cereal meat and yoghurt and again the serving staff at breakfast were cheerful and helpful.

A dated friendly hotel. Unfortunately our room was #2 and was very close to main door on ground floor and had a VERY loud noise which happened occasionally which woke us up. Great location for tourists and short walk to the buzz of London. Breakfast was next door and a nice continental breakfast. No bar, the closest bar at a neighbouring hotel. Good value for money the total stay. Very spacious rooms. Bed very firm and not very comfortable

On the website it looks beautiful. Don't be fooled. Can't open windows covered in bird droppings. Dirty surfaces. 1 curtain too small the other too big and falling off. Have to use the sister hotel to eat. Not a walk in shower. Far to high to be safe. Towels on a rack in the bath behind a glass panel. Inaccessible. Shower door broken, toilet roll holder hanging off. Sofa too old and sagging. Needs a decent clean. They have lost interest. The outside is tired. Which continues inside.

Staff polite and obliging. Hotel not as expected. We were due in London for a special event. Having initially booked The Clarendon we received an email informing us that that hotel wasn’t available “due to COVID” and restrictions (in fact it looked shut when we got to the area). Out of, I think, the five hotels we were offered the Buckingham. We wanted a separate shower, and were told that the only room with such was a basement room, described as “one of the largest in the hotel”. After some discussions and because of the change, we were offered a voucher towards our next trip to London, to be used at the hotel chain. As we rarely visit London this was of little use, so we were offered a complimentary breakfast, which we accepted. We arrived at the hotel, checked in. We were told that the restaurant wasn’t open so we would have breakfast at another hotel, within the chain, but further down the street, in fact The Beauchamp. We were also given a voucher for a complimentary glass of wine each. This was to be taken at The White Hall Hotel. The room at the ? Remind me where am I, oh yes, The Buckingham, was large, as described, but dingy, the majority of windows were at street level, opaque and mostly covered in heavy curtains. The space behind the curtains, personally we don’t think had been cleaned for some while. There was a door to the outside which was locked. The bathroom was quite roomy, separate bath with shower over, and separate shower, as requested. All were clean. The kitchenette was well used but fairly clean, the fridge frosted up, not much in the way of supplies for tea. During the night a fan or some such started up, and periodically went on and off, all night, so disturbed sleep. Not sure if this may have been some aircon unit outside. The staff at all the hotels which we visited were helpful and polite. In fact I think that the hotels in this chain in this area must share staff, as the chap who served us wine at The White Hall, also brought me extra tea later back at The Buckingham. I’d also seen one of the receptionists at The Buckingham in The Beauchamp I think it was, or it may have been The White Hall. I do sometimes wonder if the heads of this type of chain ever see what goes on at the sharp end. Do they appreciate what their staff do? I personally feel that each and every exec should have at least one week carrying out all the individual roles. I’m sure that some have, and maybe have worked their way up. Good for them, but don’t forget how hard it is sometimes to carry out orders “from above” when either these orders are not practical, or minimum staff to deal with. I understand that in these strange times we all have to adjust and make allowances. However, no longer can, or should, organisations quote COVID as an excuse. Why is Grange Clarendon Hotel still showing as available, how were we allowed to book it when it’s obviously closed. So, we stayed in one hotel, had a drink in another, breakfasted in a third, and didn’t see anything if the original hotel we booked. If we’d have known this we would have gone to another hotel which could have offered us bed and breakfast and maybe dinner, all in the same place. End of epic opinion!
