This is without doubt THE WORST place I have ever stayed in. It is not worth paying any amount of money to stay there it's so bad. It's 'basic' to a whole new level and absolutely filthy inside. Unhelpful, disinterested and dopey staff members who didn't speak English. Our room (which was just an old broken matress dumped on the...

My son and his friends stayed here for 5 days in June, location excellent and the bedrooms not bad. The bathroom however was small and the shower dirty, floors were wet and there was nowhere to hang clothes or towels. Breakfast was horrible burnt toast and cheap cornflakes served to them by a lady whose only job appeared to be...

Dont go there! It is absolutely terrible! I had read the bad reviews online, but thought it couldn't be that bad. I was wrong. In our room we had bed bugs (one girl got over 40 bites allover her body, and when we turned the mattress we saw bed bugs crawling around). When we complained the staff were mad we...

After searching for so many hostels, found acacia at a very reasonable cost i.e too in central London. The staff was really nice and helpful. Rooms are ok and was not that dirty as mentioned in the other reviews. Worth for the paid money.

You would be mad to stay here, ok, its a hostel but really what a dump..I have never come across such a sour bunch of staff anywhere in the world, you would think you were staying here for their benefit, avoid it like the plague, oh, thats an idea, then they may burn it down. As the departure tax has...

Well, the location is wonderful, but The Acacia is definitely a "no frills" operation. And by "frills" I mean toilet seats, shower heads, soap, towels...etc. It was pretty gross. Just don't touch anything. But I guess that is what you get for 13 pounds in central London.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.

“I booked a room for two people and I was placed, without asking, in a room with 3 bunk-beds. I had to sleep on the top bed because it is impossible even to sit at the lower bed. It is neither possible to sit anywhere to dress yourself because you cannot either sit on the lower bed nor on the chair, because there is not a single chair in the room. There are rooms in the basement, but also the room on the groundfloor has a bad view from the window - to the other building next to and a dirty place between the two buildings. The shared toiled is not only to 2 rooms, are it is usually in other hostels, but almost to everybody. On the first floor there is one toilet for 5 rooms! And God knows how many people there are in one room. ”
