3 couples were travelling together and we all paid the same rate. Two of us got nice sized rooms, one got a racker box. One of us got a heating/cooling system that worked, one did not. Dinner in the restaurant was a mixed bag. Some of us got good size portions, some didn't. NO ONE got good service. I asked... More

I went to London for NYE with one of my best friends-- she chose this hotel and it was perfect. We like to walk and didn't want to spend money on cabs, this hotel was 2 blocks from the Tower Hill tube station so it was perfect. We would buy a daily pass and take the subway everywhere. It was... After reading previous reviews on Trip Advisor, I dediced to book the Apex City of London Hotel, and don't regret my decision. Our hotel room was large, probably the largest I've ever occupied in London, was nicely decorated and spotless. For those who dont want to carry their laptop, in the Reception there is a computer attached to a printer,... More

Just returned from a trip to Europe with the first stop being London. We stayed at the Apex City of London, which is technically 'outside' the real touristy areas, I suppose, but we loved it. There is a tube stop about 2 minutes from the hotel, which takes you everywhere in London, so why pay more? We arrived to the... More

My husband and I stayed here one night in September 2010. The location is excellent, just a few minutes walk from Tower Hill and the tube. The room was huge and clean with a comfortable bed. The value was good, for central London.

We stayed for 3 nights over a weekend while visiting some exhibitions and friends in the city. Finding an affordable hotel within the city can be a challenge and this one came up on the balance between affordable and meeting our needs. Rooms were lovely if a little tight on space (probably just ours on the cheaper rack rate) and... More

I stayed here for four nights while attending a conference at Excel, since it's ideally placed for the DLR at Tower Gateway. Do yourself a favour and make your base here, rather than somewhere in the wastelands of the East End. It's a long time since I have had a better hotel experience. A very comfortable and contemporary room, superb... More

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a romantic/shopping weekend in the city using this hotel as a base and were delighted with all facilities. Rooms were spacious spotless and comfortable. We were late getting back on the second evening and under pressure to make a show the same night. So we put a call room service at the last minute, and... More

Check-in at the hotel was quick & efficient. The reception staff were very helpful & allowed us into our room earlier than anticipated. We were upgraded to a Superior room on the 2nd floor which was fantastic. Bathroom had large walk-in shower & bath complete with rubber duck!! We also had bathrobes & slippers. It was a spacious modern bedroom... More

We were given a complementary nights accomodation and breakfast due to being moved to one of their fantastic sister hotels on our last visit. We decided to stay the 3 nights over bank hols because... Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
