We've stayed here before and were very pleased to get a room for this visit. Lovely friendly place to stay. Rooms are comfortable and the breakfasts are something special. As long as we can get a room here we won't be looking at anywhere else in Whitby.

Visited whitby again and stayed at Number 5. What a nice place. Jane and Mary make you feel at home and make you welcome. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is amazing and sets you up for the day - you'll not leave hungry. The walk back after dinner in the town can be a bit challenging as it's...

We visited with our young baby and her grandparents. Only stopping for one night we found our room to be spacious and comfortable, with a lovely balcony to sit out on. The grandparents were in the loft and unfortunately did not get the same sort of space (maybe avoid that room if offered it!?!) The owner was attentive and helpful,...

Number 5 has so much going for it but is badly let down in one major area...the room. We booked two rooms for ourselves and our new grandchild (she let her parents come along with her!). On arrival the owner was most helpful by offering a parking permit so we could immediately enjoy the weather down in Whitby town. On...

I had some overseas visitors and booked No. 5 for them and myself. Good decision, location very good, spotlessly clean, excellent fresh breakfast. My room was very quiet (No. 1) quite spacious for this type of house. Didn't get to meet Mary, but Jane was lovely, helpful and informative. If parking is required they can help with a temporary parking...

The description on their website do not match the reality. Very Very small room, more like a cell with as much character as a cell. Avoid any rooms in the roof - no way was our room a double. Breakfast was excellent though. The owners were very friendly. Parking nearby is a nightmare.

My wife and I have had the pleasure of stopping with Jane and Mary at Number 5 on several occasions over the last 15 or so years. After a break of 3 years to discover cities anew we returned to Whitby and Number 5 again, we were not disappointed. This B&B is immaculate from top to bottom, spotlessly clean and...
