Been here before for a meal but never stayed overnight. Booked an over night stay with bed, breakfast and an evening meal (not part of the package) as my 50th birthday treat. Had a lovely room with a nice view of the lawned area and a fully opening window and window seat, other nice touches in the room including some chocolates and a small fruit bowl, very busy road near by which was a shame but could only hear it when the window was open, nice big comfy bed. The old hotel lift was a bit of fun though would put the fear of god in anyone fearing small spaces. Went down to the evening meal which had been booked for weeks for 2 people(one vegetarian) was a bit put out that info had not been relayed to them so they had to check if they could do a vege tasting menu, luckily they could. Next morning went to breakfast, other half had a full english breakfast, not a big portion but very enjoyable, mine again vege was very dissapointing, I asked for scrammbled eggs and sauted potatoes as that seemed to be the only none meat hot products on the menu (other than porridge) and nice as it was can't have been more than a couple of spoon fulls in total, I litterally finished breakfast then went back to the room to eat some snacks we had brought as I was still hungry. All in all it was very enjoyable, staff were lovely, polite and helpful. The costs here have always been very pricy so nice as a treat but could not afford to make a habit of it sadly.…
We stayed here for 2 nights and found it to be true to all the excellent reviews it’s received. The bedroom had a separate lounge area which gave it a lovely spacious feel. We were treated to appetisers with our afternoon drinks whilst sitting outside which was a lovely extra. Our meal there was delicious both nights and the breakfast was also something special. We used the spa which is situated just across a lane from the hotel. We were possibly very lucky but we shared the whole couple of hours we were in the pool with just one other couple. Staff were very knowledgeable of the area and very friendly and professional. We will return.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Julia and team for all your help, and support at our regional meeting in December. Neither any of our group or I had any queries or complaints on the day, completely the opposite, we were all very well looked after from start to finish, Please pass on our thanks to all.
Wonderful New Year holiday. Our group was thoroughly well looked after across our three day stay. Other hotels could well take note of how the team at Middlethorpe do things! Food was universally exceptional. New Year’s Eve party extraordinary good (best fireworks ever, harpist and jazz band, champagne reception etc.). Most of all though the staff were all naturally friendly and seamless in the way they covered everything and made the whole thing great fun. Thanks!
My wife and I stayed at the hotel as part of a weekend away to celebrate our anniversary(the hotel were unaware that it was a special occasion). The hotel is a beautiful historic country hose located near to York racecourse and within easy reach of York City centre. It is tastefully furnished and decorated to provide and lovely ambience. Our room was unexpectedly upgraded upon arrival and was situated within the main house. The room had everything you would expect, was beautifully furnished, clean and very comfortable. The restaurant is fine dining and the food served along with the breakfast fare was great. We didn't have time to try the spa and other facilities on offer. What made the stay special for us was the staff. They were all friendly, polite and attentive and went out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Overall a wonderful experience which we will certainly repeat in the future.…
I had seen photos of Middlethorpe Hall and read about it, I wanted to see it and to stay there. It is a beautiful house cared for with the attention it deserves. My stay felt as though I was staying in a private house, as a special guest. We had a bad journey and the hotel pulled out all the stops to make it up to us. It was most impressive. Delicious dinner, delightful afternoon tea in the drawing room. Careful attentive staff. Pleasant room in the stable block, old fashioned in a very nice way. It really was a perfect escape, which I look forward to doing again.
We had a lovely stay at Middlethorpe Hall and Spa, we arrived on Saturday 19th November for 1 nights stay. The team are very attentive and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. The room had all the amenities we needed, everything had been thought about. When getting ready at the dressing table I had everything I needed at hand, tissues, bin, hairdryer, plug sockets. The breakfast was lovely, good selection of items. Thank you to the team for a special stay.
Mum and I have an annual Christmas shopping trip and were lucky enough to stay at Middlethorpe Hall. We were blown away by our suite, the attentive staff, the wonderful food and the entire experience of staying at this fabulous hotel.
Middlethorpe never fails in maintaining the highest standards and a wonderful calm atmosphere. The gardens were pleasing in a warm autumn light and the food was creatively presented and delicious as usual. Thankyou to all the staff . Janet and Jeff Halse
Held our wedding here in 2016 and have been back for lunch and dinner since. Don't be put off at all by it being owned by the National Trust. quite the opposite! Probably the best venue you could find for a lovely restful weekend break. Top service, great food, lovely setting and restful interior and rooms. We were lucky with the weather and had a day to remember, but rain or shine you won't be disappointed! Separate swimming pool and spa.
