We have just spent a very memorable extended family weekend at Middlethorpe Hall; ponctuated on the Saturday by a reception and lunch with 52 guests to celebrate our Golden Wedding. Clearly the Hall and the gardens are quite splendid, but the success of this weekend was due to two factors. To the Staff who are all so friendly, co-operative and...

We and two other couples stayed here for the weekend to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. I am not sure where to begin in my praise of this hotel. Quite simply from start to finish everything was wonderful. The rooms are exquisite, comfortably furnished with proper antiques, sumptuous soft furnishings and paintings. We were upgraded to a suite which was...

My partner and I stayed at Middlethorpe Hall for our wedding night. The service was fantastic and we felt well and truly spoilt. The meal was delicious and we were served by a remarkable young man called Max - he made our evening particularly special. Thank you.

Just back from a wonderful stay at Middlethorpe Hall. Exceptional service from all of the staff, and all so polite. A rarity nowadays. A truly classic English Country House Hotel. Food was a delight and the gardens are lovely. Very conveniently sited for the City yet far enough out to enable you to experience the countryside. Would recommend to anyone...

Our stay at Middlethorpe Hall was simply wonderful. I was born in Yorkshire, back for a visit from the US. The staff were wonderful with directions, great walk by the river to the town of York. I am a vegetarian. We ate all dinners at the hotel. The chef prepared an excellent vegetable entree for me each evening. My husband...

If you want to feel like you are living in Downton Abbey or starring in an Agatha Christie who-dunnit - then this is the place for you. A beautiful, historic country house which oozes English charm. From the moment my friend and I arrived for a much-needed break, we were treated like royalty. I could not fault the service we...

Enjoyed the gardens, the room and a fine dinner and all was well until later - I paid my bill and said I would be leaving early and was kindly and spontaneously offered a continental breakfast at 6.30am in my room, which sounded goo, but sadly this never arrived and so I and to leave to beat the traffic hungry....

This hotel is about 15 – 20 minutes by taxi from York. We had to take taxis into the city center which the wonderful staff arranged. I wished we were driving but it worked out fine as we hired a taxi driver to take us around Yorkshire and to Whitby. The hotel concierge arranged this for us. In fact I...

A huge thank you to the whole team at Middlethorpe Hall and Spa for looking after us so well during our recent stay. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome and the service throughout was impeccable and of the highest standard, yet still friendly and not remotely stuffy or pompous. Our suite and all the...
