My fiancee booked this hotel for a one night stay for my birthday. The welcome was excellent as was the check in and being shown to our room in the courtyard. The room was nice but we were surprised that there was no tea and coffee tray. You had to ring for room service to get tea or coffee. We... More

This hotel was fantastic. Me and my boyfriend came for valentines day and it was just perfect. We were a bit worried that the hotel would be old fashioned and dated, however upon arrival we soon realised this wasn't the case. Our room was in the small cottage-like courtyard area which was so sweet. I inspected the room and bathroom,... More

My wife and I married in October 2013 and had our honeymoon at Middlethorpe. It’s an amazing setting within a short 20-30 minute walk of York town centre. Every morning we were welcomed to breakfast by our hostess Val who always had a great suggestion for a place to go in town or the local area. On one night we... More

Very good restaurant. Staff throughout the hotel are friendly and helpful and professional. We had an excellent 3 nights. An easy half-hourly bus ride into town takes about 15 minutes. Would gladly stay again.

We have just returned from the most relaxing 3 night stay here. I cannot fault the staff who are extremely attentive and nothing is too much trouble. We originally booked a Courtyard Room but were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a four-poster room with beautiful views over the park. There are no tea-making facilities in the room but a... We received a warm welcome and we're shown to a room in the courtyard. It was quite cramped and had no kettle so it was either do without or pay £5. We were offered a choice of relaxed dining in the pineapple room or more formal dining. We booked for the pineapple room but when we arrived for dinner were... More

The hotel is very beautiful to look at and the grounds were immaculate and the free car park was a bonus. Upon arrival we were taken to our room in the courtyard. The room is furnished nicely and has most comforts that you would expect (except tea and coffee facilities). We came back from York at 6pm, and went to... More

Pleasant and friendly greeting on arrival. Stayed in a courtyard room which was spacious and homely. Complimentary drinks tray lovely and 'home made' biscuits on day 1 and 3 were lovely. Grapes in room also great. Meal in restaurant nicely served and nothing too much trouble. Historical building and well-kept grounds were lovely to walk around and enjoy. Taxi called... More

Last Friday we attended a dinner at Middlethorpe hotel. As usual the food was wonderful (it was a Champagne evening and it flowed) and the waiters gave us just the right amount of attention without over doing it. We had booked to stay the night. As soon as the porter saw my car turn into the car park he rushed... More

We arrived early on the Saturday morning to be told our room wasn't ready yet ( we we're 4 hours early ) one of the staff offered to take our bags and when the room was ready would take them up. He was a very helpful chap with a good knowledge and letting us know about the hotels facilities. Very... More
