Unfortunately we had a really poor experience here on Saturday evening. We had booked our Christmas do as a party of 11, when we turned up they were still setting our tables, which we were happy to wait. There was no Christmas music or atmosphere, we had booked a three course meal and left after the starters. We were refused alcohol at the table ( we were told we needed to drink water and have our starters) I was driving so was sober & can honestly say I didn’t think it was on that they wouldn’t serve alcohol to the table. They mentioned in a previous review that soft drinks were offered - I can confirm that they weren’t and we had to actually ask for them (even then only two of the party got them). Starters were delivered very disjointed and half of us had finished before the others had got theirs. One of the party were allergic to celery ( we had put this on the order) when a member of the party got up to advise allergic the response was “I don’t care” Honestly we know where to avoid next year for our Christmas party. I’ve never had to walk out of a place, and we were treated like children. The table of two next to us said it was ridiculous that we weren’t served and were shocked at the service we received. god help anyone else who has their Christmas party meal here! …
Met up with some friends for a meal and a few drinks here. We were in the outside huts which looked really good but the one heat lamp was useless so it was cold but suppose its to be expected. We ordered drinks and the manager came out with his trainee waitress and was so condescending when training her how to uncork a bottle of wine infront of us we actually felt awful for the girl. Starters came out cold/main was okay but not worth the money paid/ deserts took around 1 hour to arrive after our mains we chased this up 3 separate times and we're then bought our coffee and tea before the deserts arrived. We chose to speak with the manager at the end of our meal before the bill to let him know our feelings and it went in one ear and out the other. He had the nerve to blame the whole bad experience on his trainee waitress as it was her first shift?! Unbelievable really. Will never return here and I would definitely recommend anyone avoids for food and drinks and chooses somewhere which appreciates a paying customer.…
Absolutely disgusting display of customer service. Went as a group today and thr jobs worth and so called manager decided not to serve us despite having booked our Christmas meal. Not one member of our group did anything to upset anyone and even the couple on the next table said the staff were out of order. 12 people walked out without eating an went elsewhere.... Never to return!
Visited last week whilst on a trip to York. I chose the roast beef Sunday lunch which was delicious, it just needed a larger jug of the gorgeous gravy for my giant Yorkshire pudding! The others had a Caesar salad, a fish dish and our small person had a children’s grilled chicken. All excellent. We had a super time in a beautiful restaurant. Staff attentive too.
My friend and I had a wonderful stay at The Judges Lodgings. We decided to visit the York Christmas markets and the location of the hotel was perfect for this - step out of the front door and you're right in the hustle and bustle of everything. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. They are a credit to the company. The bedrooms were also very spacious and the décor was beautiful. I couldn't recommend this place and will definitely be stopping there in the future. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so wonderful.
What can I say about this hotel without sounding like shareholder, which I am definitely not! I love this hotel and stay there every time I'm in York. The building is beautiful and so impressive from the moment you enter the courtyard and walk up the steps to the reception, to walking up the magnificent staircase to your room. Everything about this place takes you back to a different age. The rooms are extremely comfortable and have everything you need for an enjoyable stay. They even deliver fresh milk in the morning for your tea. After dropping off your bags head down to the cellar bar and find a table in one of the many nooks to enjoy a refreshing drink or weather permitting sit in the courtyard and people watch. Travelling solo I usually eat in the Cellar bar instead of the restaurant as I enjoy the atmosphere here. The food is always well presented and very tasty with a good choice of dishes. What makes this hotel so special to me is the staff, always friendly, welcoming and attentive. Can't wait for my next visit 🙂…
Went for a meal at judges lodges in York. Super food and service. Emily our waitress was superb. Thoroughly enjoyable and would recommend everyone to make a visit. Went with a group of friends and everyone was well pleased.
Love this gem of hotel. All the staff were friendly, attentive, efficient and couldn’t do enough for us. We stayed 2 nights in room 6 with lovely views of the minster. The central York location was perfect for exploring and the front terrace was perfect for a relaxing drink and watching the world go by. It was our wedding anniversary and we were gifted a card and a bottle of Prosecco in the room on arrival. The personal touches were lovely. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend this hotel. Thank you for looking after us so well x
We visited Judges Lodging today to meet friends. We had a lovely meal and the fish and chips were amazing. All the staff were friendly. We were looked after by Emily who was very efficient and took great care in making sure we all got exactly what we wanted. We would all highly recommend this place.
We’ve always loved this pub and this time was no exception. We were served by Aga and she was lovely, so helpful, just the right amount of attentiveness and excellent with our 3 year old son. Perfect visit and we loved it so much that we’ll be back tomorrow!
