We spent two glorious nights at the Malmaison. We booked a family room for 3 adults and were impressed with the size of the rooms - a fabulous king size bed and a super comfy sofa bed in the adjacent lounge area, with classy bathroom facilities in between. Particularly liked the automatic low lighting which triggered as you walked by - great for finding the loo at night without disturbing everyone. The hotel was spotlessly clean with modern, eye catching decor. Every member of staff we encountered had a genuine smile on their faces and were warm and welcoming. Special shout out to Sarah on reception who was super helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice of hot and cold options. Best of all was the rooftop bar! Great views across the city, lovely cocktails and Japanese small plates which were totally delicious. Great location for exploring the city. Highly recommend!…

Huge comfortable bed. Well decorated, midern, clean room with all essentials and more. Very large tv for a hotel bedroom with sky sports a huge benefit. We went on a very good value deal called " kerching". We didn't have breakfast but the evening meal ( fixed price menu) was very nice. Though the main course was rather a long time coming. The service was good. We went for our anniversary and it didn't disappoint. The room was a little warm once in bed. And the temperature was difficult to turn down But , like most people, we don't have our heating on during the night .

Visited for our anniversary as we both love york. Check in was quick and easy. Staff friendly. Room was lovely and the bed was extremely comfy. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a junior suite which made it special. Breakfast has lots of choices. Buffet style but the hot breakfast you order at your table so its nice and fresh. If i were to be picky, they didn't have any salted butter. I dont like unsalted. Everything else was spot on and would like to stay again. We were on the 5th floor so minimal car noise. Stayed in the ncp carpark which is a 2 min walk from the hotel, also received a discount card from the hotel, which saved us about £8 for a 24-hour stay.

I definitely do not think this hotel room is worth the money. It felt more like student accommodation. Although the location and staff were great the room lets the hotel down. The separate toilet with sliding door is like something you would find in a budget hotel with chipboard like walls. The lighting in the room was atrocious I couldn’t see myself at all to put my make up on. Not only is the lighting terrible the mirror near the sink is higher than the stool so you literally have to sit stooped over to see in the mirror! The mirror doesn’t move up or down or even tilt. It had a light switch on which didn’t work and when we looked underneath the wires had been cut! There is a shaving mirror which is so small and flimsy it was no good for ladies and the light was so dim anyway it wouldn’t have helped. It was our anniversary weekend and unfortunately spoilt because I didn’t feel my best after getting ready to go out as couldn’t see what I really looked like! I wouldn’t recommend staying here. …

I stayed here for one night whilst in York for business. The hotel is centrally located and a short walk from the train station. My room was a little on the small side but was clean and comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was nice with plenty of choice. I would choose to stay here again next time I am in York.

Really looking to check in early and presented with a drinks voucher for our anniversary. Room was modern and had everything we needed and wasn’t the traditional hotel room lay out. Lovely walk-in shower and a separate toilet, also had a fridge if needed in the room. The light wasn’t great in the room for Mrs W to do her make up but we coped. The bar downstairs is big and comfortable and for hotel prices not bad at all. Breakfast was really good with cereal, toast, fruit etc available and the menu to order hot food. The hotel 🏨 is situated a 5 minute walk from the train station and 2 minutes from the city, so perfect. Would stay again.

On arrival they could not find our booking, at breakfast they said we had not paid for breakfast but we had. At breakfast my glass that I picked up to get orange juice, had lipstick on the rim. The lady came to clear the table and took all the plates away whilst my wife still had some bread that she was eating. Had to leave the leftovers on the table! Toilet in our room had stains on the wall on both sides near the toilet. Passageways and rooms are gloomy.

We visited the Malmaison York Rooftop bar Sora for some early cocktails. Great view ! We were served by the charming Georgia - who was very knowledgeable on the Japanese nibbles and cocktails ...we can definitely recommend the Cherry blossom negroni ! we will be visiting again

Second visit to malmaison my first being January last year. Defo my favourite place to stay in york. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the rooms are beautiful and the cleanliness is outstanding. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting york. Will defo be back

Excellent check in by staff as we arrived they were so helpful and welcoming. Excellent location for York stay. Chez Mal was really nice, the only issues we would say is to check food was hot before serving as we experience this at our evening meal with a starter was warm ( prawns) and at Breakfast as the poach eggs were cold. It did take some time for breakfast to be served. 20 minutes before we sat down. We should of said something but we didn’t as we were more happy just to get away for the weekend without the kids. The room was comfortable and clean, bed was really comfortable and spacious. If I can make a suggestion for the room is improve lighting even though it was on the brightest setting on the dimmer it wasn’t sufficient and made it difficult to apply makeup as it was to dark. Overall a lovely modern hotel with excellent staff that I would recommend.…
