This hotel is simply excellent from every aspect! The 2 year old hotel is set in beautiful grounds and is very modern in every way. The rooms are superb with modern decor, very spacious bathroom, air conditioning, safe, fridge etc. A king size bed, soft large towels, toiletries etc are all provided. We were celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary and the hotel put a bottle of Prosecco, a box of chocolates and a card in the room. The staff in reception, the bar and the restaurant were very professional but very friendly and made you feel very welcome and comfortable. The restaurant is really nice with the tables nicely spaced out and has a very nice ambience. Food from the grill is cooked in front of you and the menu is very varied! The breakfast is buffet style again cooked in front of you and had an extensive choice! The service was excellent! All in all a must visit place!

I arrived early and reception were helpful in taking luggage and helping me fill my time till my room was ready. The hotel is basically a Golf and Wedding resort but that does not mean others cannot stay - I don't play golf and certainly was not there to get married. There is plenty of parking and it is close to York and its attractions whilst also being out in the countryside and not too far from the coast (although I would stay elsewhere if I was looking for a seaside holiday). Although I don't have an EV there are EV charging points. I booked a BB and Evening meal package (although the £30 allowance for the evening is likely to be breached for most two or three courses). The food in Tykes, the on site restaurant was good except for my very first course that I had on arrival day when the Scallops were plated on a cold plate so the whole dish was cold or lukewarm when I got it and so it took the rest of that meal and the next day for me to feel happy again! Breakfast was good with a great selection and again I enjoyed the food for the three days, only slight niggle was that on my last day I asked for an omelette which took a long time to come out (there were not many in the Restaurant at that time) and when it did it was slightly burnt in places but completely filled the plate!. The room was great, still looking very new and was kept clean and looked after well by the housekeeping staff. As a personal comment I would like thicker towels, but those provided did the job well. Overall a place to revisit if staying in the area again.

We had an absolutely amazing time, all of us, including our pup who got so much love and attention, so she was in her element. ALL of the staff have been amazing, so so friendly and inviting. Full of personality and charm. This is every single member of staff as well. The two girls on the hotel bar on the Sunday eve were especially friendly and lovely, and the reception staff too.  We couldn't fault our stay - the room was beautiful, breakfast was delicious, the bathroom was amazing.  We had such a lovely, chilled time. The afternoon tea was absolutely delicious too. The bed was so comfy too, which is a massive bonus for us. We can't say enough about it - we've really recommended it to everyone we've spoken to as well. We've never been away with our dog before and worried that the room (being a specified dog friendly room) might not be as luxurious, but that absolutely was not the case. It was brilliant being able to just keep letting her out to play in the grounds - she was exhausted when we got home! haha  We can't wait to stay again - see you soon! :) Thank you so much!

The modern hotel is set in immaculately maintained spacious grounds overlooking a golf course and lake with far reaching views. There is a large terrace overlooking the grounds which looks inviting with several table and chairs. Check in was swift and efficient, the lobby area clean and comfortable. The room was clean, had good facilities, modern TV, spacious and well equipped bathroom. A fridge with fresh milk and water was appreciated. Breakfast was served in an adjacent restaurant. The dining area was spacious with comfortable seating, clean, and produce was well stocked. However, the bed could benefit from a mattress topper to aid comfort and I would have liked to be able to open the window. The coffee making machine at breakfast could improve on its latte for taste. Overall, the stay was very good and would return.

Took my 2 dogs (been in the past a few times) dogs were always allowed to be off lead in the extensive grounds away from the actual hotel. However after some non residents decided to kick my dogs, even though their dogs were off lead as well I asked reception if the grounds were for the general public? She said they were probably staying in the lodges so I let it go. About an hour later I was told by the lady on reception that I could take my dogs off lead beyond a certain path but not in the hotel vicinity, so I did. Then a young man came running over and presented me with rules and regs about dogs in the hotel. Basically, all dogs must be on lead at all times, never to be left alone in the rooms, and must be quiet etc (you get my drift). To be told conflicting things in the space of 30 minutes was a bit dictatorial I think, I also felt like a bit of a “fall guy” and reprimanded. I shan’t be going again, which is a shame. So be aware of strict, very strict rules concerning dogs in a dog friendly hotel?!
