A boutique hotel in the heart of York just a 10-minute walk from York Minster. The building is a Grade II Listed Regency townhouse with sash windows, high ceilings, a sweeping central staircase, and ivy around the door. Inside you’ll find pantries stocked full of treats, great restaurant food throughout the day, drinks from the bar and a spa centred on bespoke therapies. There’s 39 bedrooms, including three suites that are dotted around the building’s three floors. Each one has its quirks courtesy of the building’s heritage detailing. The rooms feature a flat-screen Smart TV, tea/coffee making facilities, an iron and hairdryer in the wardrobe. The spa sits down in the arches of the cellar. It’s a cocooning world of bespoke wellbeing experiences. There are five treatment rooms, including a room for two. And a soothing space for post-treatment relaxation. And the chefs craft dishes from breakfast through to supper and the bar team serves all day. GuestHouse are passionate about creating special experiences and for those wanting to book a larger space, No.1 is home to The Bootham Room, a private dining space, ideal for a larger family lunch, weekend get together with a dozen friends, or a celebratory event. A paid private car park is located on site. York Railway Station can be reached in 15 minutes by foot.

Cant recommend this hotel enough. My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary on our first night away from our first baby and it was perfect. A lovely relaxed luxury vibe. The record players made it fun to be hanging out in our room, I hadn’t realised how dull hotels rooms usually are without music, it makes a huge difference! All the staff were really friendly and accommodating, the bed was super comfy and welcoming, I’m just sad we didn’t make time to visit the spa, though it’s an excuse to visit again which I’m already thinking about!

What a find ! The staff were brilliant . Attentive and made you feel very welcome indeed . The room was lovely - something a little different but we really like that .. a touch of luxury too . Breakfast was fab .. food lovely and the bar was very pleasant .. Lily kept us going with very nice cocktails ! The pantry is a lovely touch and to finish it all off the massage was just fabulous .. So all in all one of the best experiences we’ve had in our first stay at a hotel .. We’ll definitely be back - thank you !

We stayed Thursday to Sunday and from start to finish this was a great experience. Room was superb, staff couldn’t have been more attentive and friendly and the relaxed atmosphere made it easy to get chatting to fellow guests. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel but breakfast was also really good. Special mention to Lily and her colleagues behind the bar for their brilliant service and to Paul, a fellow guest who made the mistake of letting on it was his 50th birthday and was then surprised from his new friends with balloons and a cake…great atmosphere overall and we’re already working out when we’ll go back. Best place to stay in York - gorgeous property with beautiful decor. Incredibly warm team - very extraordinarily helpful and friendly. Property in quiet section but only a five minute lovely stroll into heart of York. Our room was comfortable and enjoyed the Pantry with free snacks and juices as well as the bikes. Don't stay anywhere else! Only thing to be aware: if you have. mobility issues, advise hotel. Hotel was quirky old building and we had a few staircases to our room.

I came as a solo traveller for a long weekend away to adventure and explore York and had the most incredible weekend. This hotel is so thoughtful and beautiful, with thought down to the detail, with stunning decor, and super friendly and lovely staff. I will absolutely be coming back. 10 / 10! It's super central, a 5-10 minute walk to Minster, the food and cocktails are delicious, they have a seperate bar, a lounge, a restaurant and beneath is a spa. There's a pantry full of stocked goods free to the guests which was also a treat! Overall - amazing!

I recently stayed at No 1 York. Such a wonderful.experience . I was travelling alone to visit this area of York where I used to live 53 years ago. I use a mobility scooter to get around and the staff at the hotel arranged the ramp whenever I wanted to go put on my trips- perfect . I stayed in Room 5 , just near reception . An absolutely lovely room with a modern 4 poster bed . I ate my delicious breakfast in the hotel restaurant . Linen napkins, beautifully cooked food and friendly staff I cannot praise this small luxury hotel and the staff enough . You need to visit , you can be served food in the bar , the restaurant and the Marmalade lounge . Give it a try , you won't be dissappointed !

We had the most lovely trip here when staying overnight in York - one night wasn’t really enough. A total bonus that dogs are welcome and fussed over - ours absolutely loved it! Every member of staff was lovely - from the great guy who made our night cap cocktails to the friendly colleagues at breakfast who brought our dog a sausage! Our room was stunning and the pantry was a total treat to be able to visit for late night ice cream. Thank you for a fantastic stay - we can’t wait to come back!

We have just come back from our incredible stay at No1! The staff couldn’t have done more for us and our two dogs. Every member of staff knew their names, dog treats in the room, a pantry full of adult goodies upstairs. Amazing breakfast, lovely drinks and cocktails (highly recommend their new Bloody Mary) and a lovely breakfast. Everything was absolutely perfect and we will definitely be back with Albert and Vivienne soon!
