I would give 5 stars for the food and staff however the cleanliness of room 108 leaves nothing to be desired. As an infection control coordinator the first thing i did after entering my room was to check the cleanliness. Dusty skirting boards and carpet. In fact it looked like nobody had vacuumed in months. Also faeces build up around the fixtures on the toilet seat. Black dirt build up around the sealant in the shower, mould on shower curtain. Very unhygienic to use cloth shower curtains in a place like this. Lastly it appeared someone had emptied their stomach contents onto the floor near single bed and window. I didn't check the state of the mattresses just incase i ended up vomiting myself. Your cleaning staff require infection control training, must pay more attention to detail and be more attentive when doing their jobs. Its not about just tidying a room its about preventing the spread of infections too.

The room smelt foisty which was the bathroom shower curtain. The room needs a good deep clean.its very noisy at night with people coming back from pubs you can hear their whole conversation from the next room and someone tried to get in our roon in the early hours which was quite frightening. If you go for breakfast go quite early to get what you want. The hotel is in a good location but thats the only good thing about it i can say

Right in the city center, easy access to everything at a fair price. The staff were friendly and the room was clean. A bit of noise when the pubs and clubs cleared out, but as its the city center it was expected. I would stay here again

Standard Travelodge, good location not too far away from main part of town and easy accesss from train station, not more than a stones throw. Can be a bit rowdy due to pop world around corner and was there during freshers season so youths roaming the streets like the raiding hoards looking for cheap booze and thrills. Dinner menu unfortunately looks good but not a crumb in site, still the good access made it easy to find somewhere to get food from. Be careful of the toilets though, even the lightest feather would break them 😬 All in all a good trip and place to lay your head.

I had a lovely short stay at the Micklegate Travelodge. The hotel itself was what you would expect from the brand - clean and welcoming, and a perfect “no fuss” stay. The staff were lovely, the rooms clean and tidy. There was plenty of tea and coffee in the room and the buffet breakfast was much improved on previous stays I’ve had in other Travelodges. We paid for WiFi, which also worked perfectly throughout our stay. An added bonus was the discount at the nearby NCP car park which was just around the corner. The only negative is that my room was on the Micklegate side above a bus stop, and as it was Freshers week, the street was very noisy with revellers leaving the town centre pubs into the early hours. Other than that though, a lovely, no fuss stay.

The location meant easy access to York. However our room overlooked the air conditioning units and bin area. Strange smell in the room and thick dust in carpet corners and stains in multiple areas. The bed itself was comfortable, and room size practical. Shame about the smell and noise.

Good location. Good deal on car parking. Staff friendly. The hotel is very dated and shabby so for what was just a basic room it was expensive.. The family room had 2 put up beds which took up all the room.

Every time I visit York I stay here, but this time both rooms we had were absolutely disgusting. Had not been cleaned or hoovered. Won't be staying again unfortunately. This hotel has really gone down hill.
