A perfect location, on a quiet side street only a couple of blocks outside the city's wall, with easy walking distance to the Minster and all other major sights around the city core. Was even a short walk to a bus stop to get out to the York Beer Fest at the racetrack. The hotel's staff were excellent: very friendly,...

Last minute booking. It was quite affordable and included free parking. ( a large SUV type vehicle would find it difficult to make it through the alley) We only had one afternoon / evening to explore York . The location was ideal for easy access . We even had plenty of time in the morning before the 11am checkout. Our...

This was a great bed and breakfast. Very well located in York, within 10 minutes walk to The Minister and then 5 minutes more to the Shambles, from there another 5 minutes will get you to the York Castle Museum. Really well located with lots of pubs and restaurants nearby. You don't need your car. If you are from Canada/US,...

We had a one night stay here while on our way from Edinburgh to London. The room was very comfortable. The location is hard to beat. It is a 5 - 10 minute walk to the cathedral. One thing we liked is that it is on a dead end street. So it was very quiet. I would recommend the Hazelwood...

I cannot speak highly enough of The Hazelwood. From the very moment we arrived and and were cheerfully welcomed the accommodation and service were truly unbeatable. As well as being in a great location only yards from The Minster, the Hazelwood is spotlessly clean, very tastefully decorated and ALL of the staff are really helpful, polite and pleasant. The cooked...

This small hotel was a bit of a gamble - in an area we don't know and not part of a hotel chain. It's a 1km walk from the train station, in a small cul de sac. I had a twin basement style room with breakfast included. It's a lovely room, with a good amount of space; there's a dresser,...

My wife and I stayed for one night but we will certainly return for a longer stay. This is a lovely B&B in a quiet cul-de-sac close to the city centre. 5 minutes walk and we were inside the city walls. The staff were really pleasant and very welcoming. Parking at the rear was very convenient. Our room was comfortable,...

I had to stay on my own in York for a night and found The Hazelwood online. I was well looked after from the start - welcomed at the door, helped with parking and given a spotless room...with cake in a tin!! It's never easy travelling alone but I found everything about this stay suited my needs and I will...

My wife and I have stayed in many of York's hotels and B&B's including The Grand Cedar Court, Deane Court and numerous others (approximately 15-20 times in the last 5 years). We are now Hazelwood regulars as it never disappoints. The place is spotlessly clean (something we are very fussy about), the breakfast is very nice and the staff are...
