Stayed last night having graduation for my son today (2 rooms). The rooms were old, tired and dirty. The shower in the morning was terrible and had two settings freezing cold or boiling hot, the rubber mat for the shower had black mould on one side of it. The extractor in the 2nd room was on all night with no...

Stayed here for one night and the location is great, walking distance to the centre. Given a parking permit by the owner for a £5 deposit. Room comfortable but needs the picture rail dusting and some tlc in paintwork and wallpaper. Breakfast lovely and freshly cooked with cereal and yoghurt and grapefruit as well. Tea nice and strong too. All...

Overheard the owner talking about the 'Prats' (guests) and how he couldn't wait to retire and have his house back.He was rude and told us to shut the outer door but on returning found the outer door wedged open. He tried to charge £5 extra and tried to charge other guests double. Staff were overheard discussing whether or not to...

We booked to stay here for 2 nights in October, for the York marathon. After reading some of the very negative reviews, I can confirm that the "Jeremy Clarkson lookalike" host is a tad brusque. "We were expecting you at 2pm" he boomed by way of a welcome, why on earth he would assume that is beyond us. Anyway, he...

We stayed for 2 nights for a wedding and had a great time. The room was spacious enough and had everything you could need. Bathroom clean, fresh towels both days and crisp clean bed linen. The breakfast was very good, choice of flakes, fruit, yogurt and full cooked breakfast. Staff were all lovely and friendly really made us feel welcome....

If you like mountain climbing ask for room 9. From the bottom of the stairs you have 49 stairs to climb the last 10 or so narrow, steep & with no handrail. Air conditioning & large fan didn't help the stuffiness in the room. Booked this hotel way back in Feb for 1 night stay on the 24th Aug. Expected...

As other reviewers have said - avoid the stairway to Heaven! We arrived late in the day and got the "Top of the House" No 9. We went up two flights and found No 9 door. It wasn't locked and opened outwards, because it led to the stairs to the bedroom. Had to go up about 3 curved steps before...

In need of modernisation. Our attic room very small with an electrically pumped toilet that when flushed would wake the dead it had no air extraction or ventilation. Think the other reviews say it all. To many guests squeezed in the breakfast room and the hotel (claustrophobic)
