Clementine's Town House Hotel, BW Premier Collection, garners commendations for its stellar service, with staff members who are described as going above and beyond. Many appreciate its serene yet central location, a stroll away from the city's heart. While the quirky and comfortable ambiance is a hit, combined with spotless rooms and unique decor, some guests mention that rooms can be on the smaller side, with occasional noise complaints. The hotel's amenities, including the picturesque gardens, contribute to its charm, although opinions on value, particularly concerning room rates and parking fees, are mixed.

We only stayed one night but we wish it had been more and will definatly be going back! I dont think I would want to stay anywhere else when visiting York.

When we arrived we were greated by a young lady nammed Becca. She was very very friendly and put me to ease right away. I am not a people person and have alot of difficulties when staying away from my home but I was surprised with how relaxed I was thanks to her charm. We were checked in swiftly with no problems and then led out of the reseption though the private enterence to the After eight suite. There is a lovely garden that if the weather would have been better would have been loevly to sit in. Even though the suite is at the back of the garden its still so private. I felt like I wasnt even in a hotel. There is also alittle private sitting area to the left and a little pod to the right for late night chilling outside.

Touch key card enterence and as soon as the door opened we were hit with warmth. It was so cosy and I was plesently surprised. Its like a cabin from the future. The design is great, the tv is huge with netflix, amazon prime and you can even screen cast your own devices over to it. Never mind the one mint on the pillow thing... here we got a whole box of after eights. Two kitkats with milk, 2 cappachino and hot choc pods for the coffee machine, mixture of teas and a bottle of water. There is also a mini fridge, 2 hot water bottles. The bed is very comfy and the bathroom was great, loved the shower and you will have everything you need including slippers and a dressing gown. There is two sets of cutrains, one that will allow the light in but bring more privacy and another that will black out the room and bring complete privacy.

As a added bonus if you like cats there is a gorgeous little cat called teddy that is often laying around, he is so loving and friendly. We even got to take him with us into our room for alittle while!! But dont worry if you are not a fan of cats the staff are wonderful and will go above and beyond to make people happy.

The only thing I will say is the parking area is quite small and could be an issue depending on how busy they are, fortunatly we managed to get a space and it wasnt a problem.

So to finish my review, we loved it, we loved the staff, we loved the location, we loved the room and we love teddy! Cant wait to go again.

Hi Christina, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review and kind words! It was great having you and your partner here, we're so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay in After Eight (even through a storm!), Next time you stay hopefully the weather will be a bit nicer for you to take advantage of the pod, it'd be perfect to sit in with a coke and another jigsaw I think! We look forward to your return, -Team Clementine's (PS, We saw your drawing of Teddy in our visitors book too, all the staff were saying how cute he looked!)

The moment we entered the hotel Jackie made us feel incredibly welcome. The hotel itself is beautiful both on the outside and inside and we were impressed with our room, which had a comfortable bed, tea and coffee facilities and a large bathroom; you could have fit about 10 people in the shower! The room was also decorated with beautiful wallpaper and antique furniture. We had breakfast during our stay which was delicious, there was a large selection of food on offer plus cold and hot drinks. The hotel is only a 10 - 15 minute walk away from the centre, which meant it was quiet enough to get a good nights sleep but close enough so that you didn't feel like you were away from all of the attractions. We could see part of York Minster from our room. However, the best thing about this hotel has got to be the staff. I have never stayed in a hotel where every single member of staff was so attentive, enthusiastic and friendly and really went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. Dan especially made our stay special. He gave us complementary food and drinks, a phone charger when mine broke, and above all else was just a really friendly person who looked after us amazingly well! More than anything, you could tell he genuinely cared and did it because he wanted the guests to be happy. I would definitely choose to stay here again and we might even return just to visit the lovely staff! 😃

This hotel is stunning from start to finish the staff, the room, the drinks, the car park everything perfect for a lovely night away with my fiancé and his parents.
We arrived early and was able to park the car and head into York which was a huge relief, the gentleman on reception was welcoming and very accommodating when I asked if parking early was ok, he then very kindly pointed us in the direction into town which was a very relaxing 10 minute stroll to the Minster!.
When we arrived back to check in the lady who checked us in was very polite and another lady (I think the owner, sorry we didn’t get names) showed us too our room which as soon as we walked in we was amazed! Very boutique, great decor, amazing powerful shower!, and the little quiet courtyard was a very nice surprise!
We ate out that evening and was out early to the coast the next day so didn’t have time for breakfast so can’t comment on the food!
Amazing hotel we will definitely be back! Thank you to all the staff my in-laws from wales where very impressed as was we! Can’t wait to visit again

Our whole experience was superb. The hotel was recommended to us by another hotel which would not take one night bookings.

We arrived after a long drive to a warm, friendly welcome by the ladies on reception, actually walking out of the building to greet us and help us park.

Rooms 16 and 25 were both beautifully decorated and comfortable. We were given chilled water and milk in thermos bottles (and offered a choice of milk too).

We were given directions for our dinner booking - a short pleasant walk into the historic centre.

The beds were super comfy, bathrooms sparkling clean with lovely toiletries.

We had a pre booked time for breakfast and had chosen the menu the night before so there was no hanging about for service.

We had taken up the offer of a free walking tour with Dave Haw and he was excellent. We both love history and he was full of juicy gossipy stories of the past - loads of detail to give colour to the place. He tailored the tour to what we wanted and clearly loved what he does. A real treat. He works on the basis of tips alone and we were happy to pay him for the great service.

The hotel helped us leave the car park, filled our water bottles with cool, fruited water and waved us warmly off like we were old friends. Service really felt like it came from the heart and not because it’s their jobs.

After choosing the Clementine Town House Hotel for our two year anniversary, we were delighted to discover the exceptional service and fantastic quality of the hotel.

The staff are absolutely fantastic and could not have done more to make us feel at home and enjoy our stay. Jessica looked after us both throughout our stay and provided a friendly and fantastic experience that you would struggle to find elsewhere. A special mention must go to the young man who brought our water up to our room and the friendly house cat who roams the corridors and provides a home comfort away from home.

The room itself was fantastic, not only beautifully decorated and full of grandeur but also absolutely spotless and filled with amenities such as coffee and chocolate. The bathroom was beautiful with a huge shower and heated towel rack. The hotel also has a lovely bar downstairs with all sorts of drinks and snacks.

Overall we have had a fantastic overnight stay at this brilliant venue which was made all the more better by the exceptional staff. I would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again!

Thank you to everyone who made our trip so great!

My other half booked this hotel for my 30th birthday. Upon checkin the upgraded us to the Chocolate Orange room which had a 4 poster bed and a HUGE jacuzzi bath. They had also organised (at an additional charge) a birthday balloon and prosecco to be in the room for our arrival.

The location is great, 10-15 mins walk to the castle walls. Staff were very helpful.

We didn't eat at the hotel as we felt the £15pp was alot considering you can get a lovely cooked breakfast for less in town.

Hi Lorna, Thank you so much for the review! We're so happy to hear you loved Chocolate Orange, we love this room mainly for that jacuzzi bath that's worth a trip to Lush for! We're sorry to hear you thought the breakfast charge was too high, though we do believe them to be of high quality, with both a hot breakfast, continental breakfast, and unlimited tea, coffee and toast included in the price. We're not just paid to say it's worth it, we really think it is! Looking forward to seeing you again, maybe for the next birthday treat! -Team Clementine's

Stayed here for the weekend with my partner and can honestly say everything about this place is amazing from check in to check out the experience was great. The staff here are very accommodating and couldn’t do any more to meet your demands. Breakfast here was well worth the £15 pound a head but the best part of the stay was definitely the shower!

The staff were nice enough but the Rooms were decorated in a very dark, oppressive colour.

Note 1 : You cannot book via booking.com using an Amex card, it is rejected and your booking will be cancelled.

Note 2 : They have a very aggressive policy of requiring full payment on arrival. That's the first time I have had to pay in advance for a hotel room. I am familiar with reception taking a holding deposit on a card, but not a full payment in advance - made me feel like a criminal about to run off without paying.

Note 3 : There is some limited car parking on site but it is first-come-first served so you may note be able to actually park on arrival.

Hi Richard, I'm glad to hear you found the staff pleasant. Sorry to hear you couldn't book easily through booking.com - I'm unsure why you had issues with this as booking.com accept AMEX - Though we always recommend booking with us directly for the best rooms and service. You were asked to pay on arrival for your room, this is very common in hotels and we do this as this is company policy for this hotel and many more, especially around York. We also do this for your convenience on the day of checkout - our receptionist asking for this payment was not meant to cause offence and we apologize if it seemed that way. Our on-site parking is unfortunately limited and offered on a first come first serve basis, however there is on-street parking available just outside the hotel and surrounding areas. Please do get in touch if you would like to discuss your booking further by emailing reception@clementinestownhouse.co.uk. Kind regards, -The Clementine's Team

From the moment you step into this hotel you have to smile.

With friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble, quirky and intriguing decor, well designed rooms with gorgeous bathrooms and nice touches including coffee machines, premium toiletries, interesting headboards … who could ask for anything more?

Only 10 mins gentle walk from the minster, and in a peaceful side road this hotel offered us a great space to relax.

Parking is tight but we had no issue and there seemed to be a reasonable amount of on-road overnight parking around.

A lovely hotel, definitely worth a visit. Huge thanks to the amazing staff team who added that special touch.

Stayed for one night in the Fruit Pastille room. The room and the rest of the hotel decor was stunning. Nice touch of some fruit pastilles in the room. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer all in the room too.

Staff very friendly and accomodating. The manageress even gave us a lift into town when it started to rain and we had left it too late to book a taxi. Thanks again, this was very kind.

We ate at the Guy Fawkes Inn and received £10 off our bill as we were staying at Clementines and they are part of the same group. Would definitely also recommend the Guy Fawkes or the Fat Badger (formally Lamb & Lion) for food/drinks.

The only negatives were that the room was quite cold, the radiator was either not working or the heating was not switched on and could have done with brighter lighting somewhere for when applying make up.

All in all a lovely stay.
