Nice spacious rooms, polite helpful staff. Car parks good as well although the speed bumps are a bit harsh. Quite far from the city centre but on a frequent bus route. Probably best for people visiting the University.

We've been coming to this Travelodge for years, ever since my son went to York uni but it is now looking very tired. The carpets are a mess - we though there had been a bleach accident with a carpet clearner. The rooms are incredibly dark - no decent overhead light at all. Shower tempramental - at times you would switch it on and nothing happened then it would suddenly spring into life 5 minutes later. Staff tried to sort it but it remained patchy. One plus point always used to be that you could get a decent breakfast at the Black Bull pub next door (different ownership despite the connecting door) but this is now only available Fri-Sun. Luckily we found an alternative, Grub, a 5 minute walk away - fine today when it wasn't cold and raining, not so good if it is. The staff have always been lovely and still are.

This is without a doubt the BEST Travelodge we’ve stayed at. The staff were all lovely, helpful & friendly. The room was spotless including g the bathroom which was sparkling clean. The car park had plenty of space. There us a very reasonably priced pub to eat in right by the Travelodge. Loads of places to eat locally. Few mins drive to city centre or lots of buses you can catch or a nice walk.

good size room, looked clean. hook on back of bathroom door was broken, and there was a terrible smell of drains in morning coming from the bathroom. there was no bathmat provided and the towels were pretty thin. paid over £200 for a twin room as demand was high on the Saturday we stayed, and it was definitely not worth that price tag! Black Bull pub next door served a very inexpensive and decent breakfast. very convenient walk to/from York university, which is why we stayed there. when rooms are a more normal price, from £38, I would definitely stay there again.

Does exactly ‘what it says on the tin.’ If you are looking for somewhere to put your head down, close to the city centre, this is great. Hotel is clean & tidy. Handy links into town, bus service just down from hotel.

We stayed here due to its proximity to the University of York which we were visiting for an open day. The hotels/room is tired and in need of some refurbishment. Very overpriced for what is a very basic hotel. If you have a choice do not buy the breakfast. It came included in our room rate but its and environmental nightmare with pre-packaged contents. The only thing reusable or recyclable was the box it came in. However the staff we came across were very helpful and friendly.

I had mistakenly booked a twin room not a family room as intended so we were 1 bed short for our 17 year old son. We were visiting York university open day so this was an important stay. Kayleigh on reception was very friendly and promised to resolve our problem by setting up an extra bed for us. This she did very promptly and with a very positive attitude. Top marks to Kayleigh!

Black mould in bathrooms, extremely dated interior, orange dirt stains around all the carpets in the reception, corridors and rooms, broken lights in bathroom and room, dated and damaged furniture....the list could go on The car park was useful and large but this really is the only thing going for the hotel. We regularly stay in Travelodges and this is easily the worst we've stayed in for 20+ years. Avoid at all costs
