A very warm welcome awaited us after a long drive up from Essex. Tris was very accommodating to our travel plans and was flexible as to when we could check into our room. The room was very clean and comfortable, with plenty of storage for our belongings. Lovely cooked breakfast and our host was very friendly and knowledgeable about the...

After a day walking the wall, Beggarbog was wonderful to arrive at. Tris was so kind and welcoming and even drove us to a pub for evening meal and collected us afterwards. Room very clean and comfortable and a lovely breakfast cooked and eaten in their farmhouse kitchen. A truly hospitable host and a perfect location.

Arrived to cold rooms. Once warmed up (why wouldn't a host turn the heat on when guests are coming?), the rooms were adequate. Nothing fancy but clean if cramped. The internet does not reach the bedrooms but is only available at breakfast in the house (and there's no cellular service there). Owner gave us a ride to the pub but...

Good things? Good location, friendly and knowledgeable owner, decent breakfast. Bad things? Not cheap, so I'd expect it to be more than a glorified bunkhouse. The tea/coffee things were set out when we arrived but we had to go in search of milk, the teapot had old cold tea in it, a cup was cracked. The room was cramped, we...

The location is great, the host is welcoming and knowledgeable and the breakfast is good. However, our room was cramped, there is nowhere to sit apart from the bed, and there is no WiFi. It's a perfectly OK stopover if you're walking Hadrian's Wall but it's too close to a bunkhouse to be a good choice for a longer stay.

A great stop off midway between Hexham and Haltwhistle on the most scenic - and strenuous! - stretch of Hadrians Wall. Comfortable, centrally heated annex accommodation is supplemented by the owners helpfulness if everything from a rack for drying clothes to a lift to the pub for dinner. Breakfast - and maths lessons! A round the family kitchen table is...

Tris is a warm and welcoming host. Fresh tea and icecream on our arrival. Beggarbog is situated close to the Hadrian's Wall in a beautiful environment. Nice rooms, quiet surroundings. Pub with excellent food in nearby Twice Brewed. And a delicious breakfast prepared by Tris himself!

The most lovely setting, and a very warm welcome from Tris made this one of my favourite spots while hiking Hadrian's Wall Path. Very close to Housesteads Fort, be careful walking the short stretch of fast road to BeggarBog. We had two rooms, a double for my husband and I, and a twin for our young adult children. The rooms...

Despite not having a sign other than a plaque on the wall Beggar Bog was easily found. We knew it was just before Housesteads and used that as a guide.... We were greeted nicely by Lucy and Tris despite having arrived a bit early after our drive down from Edinburgh. This location is absolutely perfect for Hadrian's wall walks, exploring...

We decided to spend two nights here as part of our Hadrian’s Wall Walk so that we could explore the area more thoroughly. The double room is small (the chairs if you wish to sit on them are stored under the bed); it shares the tea/coffee making facilities with the twin room in the small corridor. The bed was very...
