Brought the package, with a two night stay, for a mother a daughters get away. One daughter 21 and the other pregnant. Check in was a long process, paid for parking. Only one lift was working, so took a long tome for it to arrive. Went to spa area to see if we could change allotted treatment times (no say in when these were booked). Staff were friendly and accommodated us, one daughters (pregnant one) was at 1, mine and other daughters were 1.30 (1//2 hour) and other at 5 (1/2 hour). Not a problem until we went to the pool area, only 4 seats around the pool, 2 one side and 2 the other. Hen party of 10 in, along with other hotel guests. There is a nice relaxing room, we were told we could relax and snooze if we wished. After lunch ( not good), we went back to pool area, had a swim ect, which was nice. Later, went into relaxation room, two daybeds available, so three of us shared the two beds. We were then told we had to move as this was the waiting room for the treatments. I asked where were we to go, to be told the pool area. We went and i had to sit on the pool floor. By now over 20 people were in the pool area. I went back to reception and asked to speak to the hotel manager (no spa manager on duty). I explained my concern about the lack of seating. He agreed and said there was nothing he could do , but said that we could sit in the bar area, we were damp and in dressing gowns, so not a solution. The treatments were ok, staff again very friendly. Hotel Room (double) very small. Water in bottom of fridge. Tissue placed on the top of the tissue box, i took this out to get a tissue from underneath. The box was empty. I left the tissue on the side. The next day the tissue had been placed back in the box, so i again went to get a tissue from underneath, again the box was empty. The tissue that was placed in the box twice was used (not by me). Room service was ordered on Saturday night, chips were good (£4.50), rest was not good. Pizza (£14.50) should have had rip torn mozzarella, only had cheddar on and the base was a shop brought crisp one. Club sandwich (£14) hardly had any chicken on, it was packed out with egg. Nachos were on (£7.50) starter though. Total bill came to £50. To top the whole bad experience off, we could not get out of the carpark when leaving. reception did not validate our ticket. I did email the hotel with my concerns (same manager that i spoke to) his response was 'sorry, hopefully your next stay will be better and no more chairs due to fire and safety regulations.' In summery, Spa area is ok if you don't want to sit down and relax and if there are more than two and all the seats are available, you can't sit together. Food is to good, order out. Don't speak to a manager, waste of time

My friend and I didn’t stay in the hotel as guests but we decided last week to have a go in the spa ‘urban retreats’ . Not a very good idea as it turned out. We arrived a little later than we had expected to, within about 45 mins of closing time. The guy at reception was very rude explaining we only had about half hour before he closed and we probably shouldn’t waste our money and just go home. Well we went in anyway as we only wanted a swim and a jacuzzi. He then kept coming to the pool side, clearing up loudly and sweeping as if to scare us off. He even took our towels at one point and we had to get more. He said he didn’t realise they were ours 🙄. We did eventually leave after about 20 mins. Although I appreciate that people like to get home after a long shift at work but we were paying customers and that is his job. I’m sure this hasn’t happened before and will happen again.

Good location for Christmas shopping. Staff friendly & accommodating. If you love a cosmopolitan.. (as I do!) Go & see Omar in the bar.. he makes the best cosmo’s ( & I have drank them all over the world & have been sorely disappointed on many occasions!) Not here! This guy takes pride in his work!

Booked an upgraded room as a surprise for my husbands birthday. Whilst the hotel was clean and staff were helpful and friendly I am incredibly disappointed with our stay. We stayed in room 811, which is classed as a Super King top floor room. There was certainly nothing “super” about this room, the bed was just about a king size not a super king and the room was very cramped and also right next to the lift. We had requested an early check which I appreciate isn’t guaranteed and wasn’t available when we arrived at the property, not a problem though as the helpful receptionist took our bags and let us change in the spa facilities. When we came back later on (after 3pm) and got our room keys, I was disappointed with the size of the room but didn’t want it to spoil my husband’s birthday or make a fuss so we went straight back out to make the most of Nottingham. However when we get back about 11pm, Rock City was in full swing and our room overlooked this venue. I can honestly say it’s one of the worst nights sleep my husband and I have experienced the constant base noise and screams/laughter from the people outside this venue. Then early Sunday morning other guests & the cleaners started their day & as we were right next to the lift we were disturbed once again. when you are paying £180 a night, plus I had mentioned it was a special occasion and we arrived at the property earlier in the day why we weren’t given a room on the other side, or warned about the noise is shocking. I could’ve had a junior suite at the park plaza Nottingham for less money which would’ve been quieter and a more spacious/less cramped room. I also sent an email to the property when we returned home and I’ve not heard back, but then they don’t care as they’ve got my money now.

Took the advice on previous review and asked for bedroom on front of hotel and was not disturbed at all by exterior or internal noise. The room was very comfortable and the only problem encountered was long waits for the lift as one was out of action. The breakfasts had a lot of choice and the one evening we ate in was also very good. We appreciated the relative silence as we had just returned from a sports bar watching a rugby international. The swimming pool and hot room were excellent.

If you plan on sleeping then DO NOT stay here. I realise this is a city centre location but at least advise me you are putting me next to an ear bleeding level of noise before taking my money so that I can make the choice of whether I will get any sleep or not. The hotel sound proofing for both internal and external noise is practically nonexistent. The walls and bed were VIBRATING from the nightclub opposite my room until after 3am. Why would I pay £200 for that? The manager did not want to know when I told him I was not happy paying for the room. They take the money and couldn’t care less about the dreadful offering they provide. No apology was made until I pointed out he was being very arrogant in his responses and hadn’t made one. He then offered me a late check out but I had plans with my daughter that day so it did not make any difference. He seemed to think that was good enough. When I did finally sleep (the pillows are lumpy, old and flat as pancakes, the bed is hard, the duvet thin and pathetic) I was woken constantly by noise in the corridors and other rooms. The cleaners then started cleaning the rooms early morning onwards on a Sunday and I could hear everything. It was like torture. You will not get a lie in here either. The heating broke after 30 minutes when I finally worked out how to put it on after freezing for hours and the room was cold. I rang for room service at about midnight when I’d given up trying to sleep and they said because of a two day conference there was no food available for everyday guests apart from cold sandwiches despite it being advertised as 24 hours on the room service menu. They then sent me the wrong bread on my sandwich. I took a bite before I realised and it tasted absolutely dreadful - no butter dry tasteless - I asked them to take it back and not replace it because it was disgusting. They said they wouldn’t charge but it was still added onto my bill. These people/company are unbelievable. One lift for hundreds of people as the other was broken - it took forever to get anywhere. Breakfast - overcooked, very stale, little choice, no fresh decaf and undrinkable cheap instant, not replenished, cooking omelette for staff but not offered for guests. Room - tiny, cold, tv remote not working, tv wonkey, shower head would not stay up, pressure low, flush broken, no drawers, tiny wardrobe. I paid £200 for the pleasure of all that and was told no way could I have a refund. I WILL NEVER STAY IN AN IHG HOTEL AGAIN. THE ATTITUDE OF THE MANAGER WAS APPALLING CONSIDERING THEY CONNED ME OUT OF MY MONEY WITH NO SHAME WHATSOEVER.

We booked to stay here again as it is so convenient for the city and it's entertainment venues. The staff here were all excellent from check in to housekeeping. The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast buffet good with even a chef making omelettes to request at one of the stations. This hotel is a credit to the staff and management as it is clearly well run and all the staff were friendly and appeared to actually enjoy working there.

Very friendly welcoming staff with a spacious bar & lounge area. That’s the good bit! I stay in many IHG hotels with business and sadly this experience was under par. If staying request to NOT be on Rock City side as we were woken with the noise which is especially loud between 2-2.30am for kicking out…small, tired rooms with disappointing bathrooms.

Nice, modern and well decorated with pleasant staff and a great breakfast in pleasant surroundings. Buffet style so you can have as much as you want with cooked and cold buffet offered with plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cakes and cereals and cheeses. Room was clean and plenty of clean towels and shampoos, soaps and conditioner. I have only given it four stars because of the lack of cupboard space in the bedrooms. One single wardrobe isn't enough for two people in a double room especially as no drawers/cupboards.
