We spent an absolutely lovely NYE here this year. My only regret was that we didn't have another night to spend in Oxford. We checked in on a rainy afternoon and walking into the reception area with the fireplace going definitely warmed up our day. The parking is a bit precarious but we had a small rental car that we...

Thank you for your kind words. So glad you enjoyed your stay with us; you obviously got the new year off to a great start. We do hope you will return to us, when you visit Oxford again. The historical nature and design of the hotel precludes us from being able to have a lift (elevator). For your reassurance, and...

I made the booking over the phone, the day of our visit. The receptionist was excellent and informative, when asked about car parking she said she would reserve a place for us. When we arrived we saw our parking place with our name on right next to the Hotel, this Hotel is only a few hundred meters from the centre...

Thanks again, for spreading the good word!

We spent a wonderful new years eve at the Old Parsonage. It's recently went through a renovation and they have done a wonderful job. The common areas are homely, warm and inviting and the rooms are lovely. They have added many small features only commonly found in the worlds large exclusive hotels like underfloor heating in the bathroom, non misting...

Thank you for such constructive feedback and kind words, Warren. Post refurbishment, all of our rooms have been redesigned to the same high standard. The features you generously mention are available in all rooms (with the exception of the blackout blinds, which are unique to bedrooms on the newly constructed 2nd floor). It is regrettable that the restaurant did not...

Stayed over New Year. Lovely mix of old and new architecture and recently refurbished to a high standard in greys and orange in the glass library, purple and black in the bar and restaurant. Very good food but they really need to review the portion sizes and please get rid of the 12.5% service charge (no option not to pay...

Thank you for your comments. It is satisfying to hear that our intended aim of retaining the historical charm of the Old Parsonage, whilst offering modern comfort and convenience, is in evidence. To reassure you and others reading this, the restaurant’s service charge is discretionary and can, of course, be removed. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by the fire alarm...

I booked there for one night as a birthday treat for my husband so that we could explore Oxford and visit the museums. The hotel provided free parking which is a plus and we had a parking space reserved for us when we arrived. They knew we were arriving early and our room was available much earlier than the advertised...

Thank you for your kind words, Serene. It was a pleasure to have you stay and we do hope to see you again soon. We do endeavour to have rooms available to check in to, when occupancy permits and I am pleased you and your husband were able to make the most of your visit. Please be reassured that teas...

We booked a junior suite for new year. Overall the hotel is extremely clean with great service. Recently refurbished and library is beautiful. However watch out for the 12.5% charge that's added to everything and small portions be prepared to leave the restraunt still Hungary. Not recommended for new years eve as the entertainment arrived late and packed up early!

Thank you for such constructive feedback. We are pleased that the refurbishment is to your liking and that you experienced our renowned service, first hand. We are sorry to learn that you departed the restaurant unsatisfied. We just stayed for 2 nights recently after Christmas and I really feel that this hotel should get better known by travellers to Oxford. The hotel is a charming small boutique styled place but what makes it stand out more than its fantastic food, great location close to the centre of Oxford is.... the staff! Everyone we met at the...

We stayed at the Old Parsonage for Christmas 2014, arriving on Christmas Eve and leaving on Boxing Day. Our reasons for choosing the hotel were twofold: we intended to eat Christmas dinner there, so it was convenient to stay there too, and we also had our dog with us (I think I'm right in saying that this is the only...

I live in Oxford and this is the place where I go when I want to give myself a treat. It is so old England, the chimney place, the sofas, the tables, the candles on, everything reminds me of a time where people used to dine with style. The food is excellent too.

I have been visiting the OPH more or less since the day it opened and have fond memories of many happy celebrations there. Apart from one occasion last year which the OPH management promptly put right with a lovely lunch on the house, I and my guests have always enjoyed ourselves in its warm, comfortable and colourful ambience. We have...

Thank you for your (admittedly subjective) comments. We are always genuinely interested in our returning visitors’ opinion of the refurbishment and appreciate that we cannot please all of the people, all of the time. Presumably, the title of your review is a hypothetical enquiry, but I can report that, in league with the majority of our diners and hotel residents,...
