The website makes a very good impression, unfortunately the reality is completely different. Regular rooms are dark and depressing. Bathroom is big, but there was sediment and fungus in the shower. Cuisine was was bad - scrambled eggs were fine, but the sausage and mushroom were uneatable. The only plus was the service - really pleasant and nice people, both...

Located in central Reading across the road from the train station, Malmaison is certainly convenient. Note the hotel has no parking of its own but offers a discounted rate of £12 per day in the nearby Garrard Street NCP multi-storey. I attended for a business meeting rather than a stopover and found the venue refreshingly different from the usual hotel...

We stayed here as part of a family meeting recently, and needed a hotel reasonably central to Reading. Our visit was short, but the hotel was very good. Reception was efficient, and our rooms were available by the stated time, and each room was reasonably spacious, and very clean. The décor throughout is quite dark, but doesn't detract from the overall feel of the hotel as...

Being a big fan of the Malmaison brand I was delighted that when staying in Reading there was one located right next to the station. It didn't disappoint, there was all the quirky features that make these hotels different, the room was well appointed, maybe slightly dark and the 'dimming' lights took a bit of working out. We stayed in...

Hoping for a lovely night away for graduation celebrations. Looked lovely on the website and thought we were in for treat. All very dark and dated but not too much of an issue. Rooms were dirty, dusty and tatty with awful views. However great location (noisy) and apparently they are refurbishing the hotel. Rooms were all cleaned when we went...

This hotel is great with excellent facilities, brilliant staff (special mention for Kacper who assisted my entire group really well) and its dead close to Reading Station which was really great however the only issue I had was with the lighting in the room which I felt was less.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The brief encounter, that fleeting glance from across the platform, a longing to be with the one you shouldn't...Meet me outside the station at this gloriously converted rail hotel.
