Room was booked for me due to a hospital visit at the nearby Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Arrived before 9pm, friendly welcome from reception. Room on the dark side and some of the quirks mentioned by other reviewers noted e.g. Wires below tv hanging down, location of soap dispensers, nothing that stop me from returning. Room on the cool side but...

We have stayed at this hotel many times, more recently when prospecting for a suitable wedding venue. I've only just got round to submitting a review, which I felt necessary as it's such a lovely hotel. Located just outside the city centre, close to The Winter Gardens and Eccalsall Road, which is a must visit for great bars and lovely...

We stayed here for 3 nights as my mum needed an operation at the royal hallamshire hospital that is less than 5 minutes walk away, we wanted to be close by as we come from East Yorkshire and it is a good drive for us to get there, so that's why we choose this hotel as it is so close...

Our second visit of the year had its dramas: a row over disco noise at five in the afternoon; the accidental setting off of smoke alarms in our room at 10.30pm. But I found myself enjoying the place despite all its obvious inadequacies, its maze of staircases, its tiny car park, the absence of draws etc. But our room was...

We had our wedding ceremony on the 2 December 2016 in the Edale Suite and the wedding breakfast in the Dovedale. We opted for a late ceremony at 16:30 then just an intimate meal for 22 close friends and relatives. We couldn't fault a thing, everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. All of the staff were absolutely wonderful,...

Very comfortable and in a good location but very run down and in need of an upgrade. My biggest complaint was that the fire doors were permanently open which concerned me. When I reported this at reception the night porter was blamed, then housekeeping, never management. This is a serious issue particularly in an old building. Fire doors must be...

Stayed in order to spend Xmas with the family. Booked for 2 nights, glad I actually only stayed for 1. The check in staff were really nice. As we're the bar staff. Basically the people were great. However the hotel itself... where do I start... the rooms are just odd. There is a massive photo of a random person on...

Reasonably good hotel, great location for Sheffield not too far out. Rooms nice, staff good. Strange large walled pictures in rooms! Stayed here several times and would return again. However on my last visit the waitress tried to fob me off with Nescafé as fresh coffee, cheek!

My sister held her wedding and the reception at the Rutland and I can't fault them on anything. Andrew and his team were so attentive and made my sisters wedding a very memorable occasion. The hotel I a little run down but the staff, the food and the organisation of the whole day made up for it.
