We stayed in room 5 which is quite small for a double but the main problem was the terrible smell of drains in the bathroom. We had arrived in the evening on a horrible wet day and were just glad of a bed for the night. If we kept the bathroom light on the extractor fan reduced the smell and as we were only there for one night we put up with it and reported it on check out. Breakfast however was really good, with a good selection of cereals and fresh fruit followed by excellent cooked breakfast - the kipper fillet and poached egg was a delight.

Lovely, small, family-run, independent hotel/B&B right in the centre of Shrewsbury. The room and bed were both comfortable, with all the usual facilities you would expect from this kind of accommodation. Decent breakfast options served by friendly staff. Free on-site parking for 10 cars which we were able to use every day for the four days we were there. Notwithstanding its central location, it was quiet. The biggest plus is its location, providing very easy, walkable access to all the shops (many of which are small independents), restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs that Shrewsbury has to offer. Would use again and definitely recommended.

I have never been to Shrewsbury, and we stayed here during our trip. The location was very convenient, within walking distance to the castle, and there are lots of amenities (pubs/restaurants/shops) close by. All staff we encountered (upon check in, at breakfast, using the small bar within the hotel and checkout) were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Only lost points because the rooms aren't very sheltered from other noises throughout the hotel (or at least mine wasn't), I could hear the showers and toilets in other rooms. Other than this minor issue, I found no fault with the hotel and would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a lovely stay!

we stayed here for 2 nights it ÂŁ220 with breakfast and our dog the room looks nothing like the pictures and is scruffy and in need of ripping out and starting again no lovely blue colors but a dirty white walls that have bits of paper missing and chips in paint work and cheap curtains . I spilt my dogs water bowl and mopped the water up with some kitchen roll I had it came up filthy and dirty I was disgusted my bare feet had been walking on this . The view they advertise was of houses or flats or the top of the hotel restaurant . I think they must keep this room for dog owners but its so very small we couldn't move around properly and you had to put the dog against the door or you could not get to the bathroom . The television is so small if you have eye site trouble you will struggle to see it because its so high up. At night when we were trying to sleep all we could here every couple of hours was a noise like a Tardis landing this I believe was the toilet been flushed in the room above us. The corridors are very tidy and neat its a shame they don't do the same in the bedrooms where you actually sleep. The staff were the best thing about it the lovely lady on reception with the sweet voice was so helpful and worth her weight in gold .The waitress who did the breakfast were also very attentive and the breakfast was lovely quality and very hot. The coffee was good . Its next to the river which is fab for walking and if you don't get into one of their 8 car parking places you have to pay in the public carpark up till 6 pm then again a t 8am so night time is free. would I stay again only if some money is spent on it and the misleading photos' need to be removed as I feel its false advertising .

Centrally situated and close to the River Severn the small family run hotel offers good value accommodation and while on the small side rooms are cosy and include all the facilities you are likely to need.
The outside door is kept locked so you need your key when going out. WiFi can be patchy at times.
Parking space is available and the city centre is easily accessible on foot. Covid mitigations were ìmplemented effectively including a one way system around the hotel.
There are plenty of eating options within easy walking distance. The hotel dining room is lovely but is only used for breakfast, which was excellent and cooked to order, with a good choice on the menu including kippers.
Well recommended for a short stay.

Plentiful supply of tea & coffee. Absolutely no complaints, easy to find and close to the centre of Shrewsbury.

The beds were warm and comfortable, and the breakfasts were just what you would want, including lovely fresh fruit salad. We will stay there again if we return to Shrewsbury. It is in a good location with access to riverside walks and the historic old town.

I am writing this review now before I go out again as I leave tomorrow. I found this hotel by chance as I was looking on booking.com for dog friendly hotels in Shrewsbury. I came here for a short staycation and i brought my little dog with me. It is very well priced. The hotel is literally across the road from a river walk that leads to a lovely open space and more walks called the quay so it’s great for people with dogs. The hotel is a lovely building but no lifts my room was no 9 I have slight problems with stairs and have two flights that get to room which I just about managed so at times I found it difficult as did my little dog but it was my fault for not requesting a lower room but it did not take away the uniqueness of this family run hotel. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Breakfast is lovely and dogs are aloud in the restaurant which is nice and as my dog does not like to be left alone in the room it suits us both down to the ground. They only serve breakfast here but there are plenty of restaurants and bars in town. There is a bar but I didn’t use it. The hotel is located around 15-20 mins from the railway station but it’s at the bottom of a steepish hill and you’ve got to walk up it if you want to see Shrewsbury castle or prison. It is located near Shrewsbury Abby and the English bridge. The rooms have all your basic needs and are very clean. They charge 5.00 extra per night for your dog but it’s well worth it. I highly recommend this hotel and if I’m in Shrewsbury again I will book it. They also have parking outside the hotel for those who have cars but it’s limited. But all in all an excellent place to stay.

Good location in the city centre, about 10 minutes walk to the train station. The hotel is old and worn and in need of renovation. We came early to the hotel so they stored our bags and when we checked in the bags were in the room. Not impressed with the bathroom. Good breakfast in the morning. Ok for a nights stay.
