This is a truly superb hotel . We booked on an offer , which often means inferior food with a room above the kitchen extractor fans . Certainly not the case @ The Francis . A lovely room with a complimentary upgrade because of our Golden Wedding anniversary . Excellent food beautifully served . The reception staff were so helpful , including Jemma who helped us with taxis and restaurants . We highly recommend The Francis and will certainly return .

Top marks for The Francis Hotel from a wheelchair user. Even before my stay, the hotel went the extra mile and bought bed raisers to raise the height of the divan bed in my accessible room so I could use my transfer aid with ease. I stayed in room 10. The bathroom was spacious and really well set up for guests with mobility issues. It had high quality fixtures for things like the grab rails so it never felt like I was in a room of lesser quality than any of the other rooms. There was also plenty of room to store my equipment so you could still move around the room with ease. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect for accessing the centre and all the fantastic amenities. The only little grump I might note is that the disabled parking space was just by the rear entrance of the hotel which had steps so a wheelchair user would have to go round the side to the main entrance at the front, for me at this time navigating the roadworks around the hotel. The hotel know about this, sometimes it is what it is and of course the beautiful buildings in Bath have been there long before people thought about disabled accessibility needs!

This was our first stay here as our usual hotel was asking silly prices. So we turned up a bit nervous of what to expect. I must admit the hotel car park was a bit of a nightmare to find but got there in the end. Parking was £20 a night which I thought was a bit of a bargain. The receptionist on check in was lovely and very efficient. We were very lucky to be given an upgrade , the room was lovely , quite spacious with a fridge with free water and some soft drinks also a nice touch was the milk for a cuppa in bed in the morning. The room was very clean and tidy with no marks or scuffs visible. Lovely in fact. Breakfast was buffet style and excellent with great service too. We couldn’t fault the place and a special mention must go to the barman who was very knowledgable about the local beers they served. We would definitely stay here again

Stayed here for a weekend in March, very friendly staff, excellent upkeep of premises throughout. Great amount of history there including the Beatles who stayed there in the 60's among other famous faces. The bar has been beautifully done out, and really looks great. We stayed in the Emma Moyard Suite and was well impressed and right at the front of the hotel, over looking Queens square.

We had a lovely few nights here, very friendly helpful staff, comfortable and spacious room, and ideally positioned on Queen Square for wandering around the beautiful city of Bath. We ate in the restaurant on the second night and the food was delicious and service spot on.

Overall nice hotel, but the service is a bit lacking. We booked a package direct with the hotel which was meant to include a bottle of Prosecco and a sleep set. These weren’t provided in the room and we had to chase these down with the reception team. We’d requested when booking that we’d be very grateful if breakfast could accommodate a dairy free diet. On checkin we were informed that dairy-free milk had been provided in our room for coffee, and that the chef was aware of our dietary needs for the morning - amazing! But turns out there was only cows milk in the room, and only standard dairy options at breakfast. Points for trying, I guess? Breakfast on the first day we requested coffees, which never appeared. At dinner, the gentleman seating us advised we could order from the set menu, or could substitute from the main main upto the value of £35. The person taking our order however interrupted us when trying to arrange this, and flatly told us that wasn’t true. So would perhaps be good if everyone for their ducks in a row on that. Also the bar prices are about £1 extra per drink then stated on the menus - not sure what that’s about.

Booked this hotel for our road trip and the location/ parking . 190miles later arrived at the Francis hotel we couldn’t find the Francis car par after going around in circles we stopped outside the hotel to ask how to get to there car park we was given a map what was drawn on explaining were to go you couldn’t read the road as it was to small in the end we gave up and parked in a long stay car par and walked to the hotel not a great start. Booking in was quick and easy we was given our room number third floor could take stairs or lift. On first impression room looked clean and comfortable , the location was perfect a small walk to town centre but sadly on a main road which kept my hubby wake most of the night very noisy. The bed wasn’t ver comfortable back ache in the morning very cold the quilt was paper thin the breakfast looked nice but sadly was Luke warm no the best breakfast we have had , both reception and breakfast staff seemed to be put out serving us Would not stay here again

We’ve just returned from a few days in this hotel. Firstly the front of house staff were amazing. They were all so welcoming and polite. We arrived before 3pm and were allowed into our room early. It was recently my birthday and I was showered with goodies from the hotel, including a most welcome free bottle of Prosecco, some macarons and some chocolates along with a nice little card. The room was spacious and had lots of lovely touches. A coffee machine with a good selection of coffee pods and also a cafetière, biscuits and a mini bar with free water, Coca Cola and, a real bonus, a small bottle of fresh milk. We ate in the restaurant one night and the meal was very good indeed. Again the restaurant staff were very pleasant. Breakfast the first day was very busy and the staff were stretched. However they coped well. Ok the scramble egg could have done with being a bit hotter but on the whole no complaints. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this hotel and it is very well situated to explore the beautiful city of Bath.

The 4 star rating is well deserved in relation to the efficiency and professionalism of the FOH, lounge & housekeeping staff. However, I was very disappointed at breakfast. I agree with Paul C regarding the quality and choice of ingredients. In addition, the pastries on offer were all 'mini' versions of the standard size, and there was no brown/granary bread in sight! Also, the staff need to smile ...
