Nestled within four acres of mature award-winning gardens and spacious terraces, The Bath Priory sets itself apart as a peaceful haven in a bustling city. The Georgian house of honey-coloured Bath stone enjoys a tranquil location just a short walk through Royal Victoria Park to Bath’s city centre. The award-winning spa has a selection of luxurious treatments, an indoor pool, pool-side sauna, elliptical steam pod and shower. From the moment you enter The Garden Spa by L’OCCITANE, fragrances transport you to Provence; the escape begins with scent. Every gesture, every ingredient, every ritual is drawn from a page of the L’OCCITANE grand herbarium, a resource of hundreds of essential oils and natural ingredients. Steeped in Roman history, the city of Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Roman Baths, Pump Rooms and Theatre Royal are noteworthy highlights alongside the city’s architectural merits including the Royal Crescent and The Circus.

I could not recommend this hotel more - especially the rooms overlooking the beautiful garden. Great value for money with delicious food, huge choice at breakfast, charming ladies in the Spa and an overall wonderful experience. Cant wait to go back.

The main good point is that the staff are very lovely from once you arrive until you leave. Thereafter, it’s not worth the cost. We went for a deluxe room, though spacious with a view towards the garden, the rooms are unexceptional and quite bland surprisingly. We had problems getting the hotel to respond tp reservation requests which meant we ended up eating at The Pantry. We used their recommended online system to communicate with the hotel but it amounted to nothing. The pantry? Aesthetically, this room feels like it has no real identity and is a bit draughty leaving one feeling like you’re sitting in a waiting room. The menu was fine with the obligatory hefty mark up on wines. On a Saturday evening, all the social spaces were occupied after dinner so we retired to our room sensing that the public spaces are too cramped to accommodate guests comfortably. Breakfast was a major disappointment. Worst watery coffee ever was delivered by a stressed maitre d. Eggs Benedict with what turns out to be salty, squidgy pulled ham hock was so cloyingly hideous that we mentioned it to the maitre d. He promised to mention it to the kitchen, stressed of course. There’s a tightness here on the hospitality that stems from the owners which makes sense when you read the next bit. The worst thing of all are the large art pieces on display with seriously inappropriate colonial scenes that other guests, including ourselves, found breathtakingly intentionally offensive. I’d say, give this place a miss.

The Hotel & Gardens are lovely even in November. The location in my view, is the best in Bath. All the Pantry food & beverages I had were excellent. The afternoon Tea was wonderful. The Chef & Catering team are clearly very capable. The produce excellent & ethically sourced. The room itself although pleasant did not represent good value for money @c.£500 per night. I would expect it to be immaculate for that & it wasnt. I paid full price although many didnt which I feel was disproportionate & inappropriate. The Hotel is closed Monday & Tueday so the opportunity is there to address issues I have highlighted to the Hotel direct. Service from all staff was excellent with the sole exception of the Spa ladies 2 of whom were a bit brittle.

From the arrival to our departure, the staff were superb and tended to our every need. The room was one of the nicest we have stayed in and we enjoyed the Spa facilities, which again were beautiful. The restaurant food is of an extremely high standard and our meals on both nights were delightful We had to return to the hotel after we had checked out, as my wife was taken ill - Mr Durand and his staff were fantastic and gave us use of a room (free of charge) and he looked after her until the ambulance arrived. I cannot thank the team enough for their compassion - we will return again and will make sure we stay at this lovely hotel whener we are in the area

room lovely but bathroom not comparable. Slow breakfast service. Nice pool, paintwork in public areas needs touching up. Just not worth the high price. “Complimentary” newspaper of choice in morning which is an nice old school touch. Wouldn’t return.
