Detailed Reviews
Stayed here overnight on way to Devon. Lovely large spacious, clean and comfortable room. Most rooms seem to be overlooking the road but traffic reasonably quiet during the night. Booked a table due to current situation and food was amazing, Asia super food salad was extremely tasty and very filling. Bar closed at 8pm which was a little disappointing as there was no where else to go as everything else was closed. Breakfast was also a let down, we both ordered poached eggs on toast and all 4 were overcooked, a little annoying when they were only cooking for us.

Stayed for one night to do some walking in and around Cheddar. We arrived earlier than the check in time so we could explore the area and the staff very accommodating with us leaving the car in the car park, same on the next day - we were welcomed to use the car park whilst we hiked. Throughout our stay staff were friendly and helpful.
The room itself was very large and immaculately clean - same for the bathroom. The room was really nicely furnished and had all the usual tea, coffee and toiletries, but the addition of a jar of peanuts was a nice touch.
Breakfast the next day was delicious and plentiful, refills of hot drinks offered.
I can strongly recommend this hotel - we're already looking for excuses to come back!

We stayed for 3nights in July and had a very good time.
The room was very nice with a good sized bathroom and although we were over a busy main road with a lot of holiday traffic we didn’t find it disturbed us at all.
There were a few issues, the shower leaked from various parts of it and I would have thought housekeeping would have reported it, also a bulb needed replacing in 1 of the lamps we removed the bulb and left it on the side to be replaced but it was ignored. In hindsight we should have probably reported these 2 issues ourselves but I do think housekeeping maybe needs to pay a bit more attention albeit the room was very clean.
We ate 2evenings in the pub and the food was superb. Everything was delicious and the service excellent, as was the breakfast.
All the staff were excellent, we were very Impressed and the covid guidelines were very well adhered to..
There was ample parking and very easy to transfer your luggage from the car park into the hotel. The pub was also very well situated .
We would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend.

I'm currently staying at the Bath Arms last night tonight, I'm fairly local and have poped in for a drink in the past.
I was a little worried might have been to up market for me and my walking boots, but the staff resumed me that it was no problem, very freindely I arrived in the morning and asked if I could leave my rucksack as I was going walking ,no problen it was taken to my room.
Room very modern spotlessly clean great decor, everythinl I neaded in room dressing tabal with chair and mirror, hair dryer, complmatry biscuits nuts and jelly all filled up daily.
Bathroom large modern power shower and bath ,quiltey toilteries provided, did find the toilet high had to stretch to get feat on floor..
For the price conditioner and dressing gown would be nice but I'm probely excepting to much.
Bar and restaurant are tastefully decorated quite intermit candals ,log burners nice amopser.
Prices a little bit above the norm for the area but food was excellent so worth paying little bit more.
The bar is tabal service which some times mean you have to try and catch staff eyes ,tonight is busy.
But tabals stil socially distanced, covid secour,
All in all a lovely place to spend a weekend, ten minutes walk to the gorge area ,quite a few restaurants bats and cafes in gorge area ,lots off gift shops etc.
Lots off great walking cycling on the door step, as I say I'm farely local bit I will probelly treat myself again one day

We stayed here for two nights and ate in the restauarant with friends on the first night, we also had breakfast each morning so had the full experience.
The welcome was warm when we arrived and were shown to our spacious room, which was surprising for an old building, our room faced the road, and the room information advised that due the the building being in a conservation area the windows couldn’t be updated, but complementary ear plugs were supplied and we both slept really well.
Dinner in the restaurant was good, with a pretty good range to cater for all tastes, it’s wasn’t bad value either and the total cost of our break was good value.
Breakfast was from a menu, and again was pleasant and relaxed and the staff were great from start to finish.
Would I stay here again- definitely yes!

My wife and I had not visited Cheddar for 8 years and Covid had taken away any desire to go abroad so we booked 3 nights B&B at the Bath Arms. There was plenty of free parking behind the hotel and we were impressed by their Covid precautions. Our room was called little robin which is the one featured in the photo and had a large bed and large en suite bathroom. Our stay was great as the staff were fantastic and could not have been more helpful, we had dinner which was plentiful and breakfast which was even larger but had to be preordered but it was so large that I was asking them to take things off! It was also a great base for our trips out to the gorge and other nearby venues. I think the room was £120 a night B&B but we thought it was well worth the money for the experience. The only down side is road noise but the welcome letter states that it is an old building so they cannot change the windows but do offer free ear plugs, and also no safe in the room. Sincere thanks to the staff though - you made us feel very welcome

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights whilst on a short break down in Somerset.
From the second we arrived it was clear that the staff actually care about the service they provide. It was a very warm & friendly welcome, and the attitude of ‘nothing was too much trouble’ continued throughout the stay which is a rarity these days.
The room itself was light and airy, spacious enough for the two of us and clean - all the first impressions you can ask for really. There is also a large selection of tea, coffee, water, biscuits, nuts & sweets in the room replenished daily which is a nice touch.
Their stand out feature has to be their restaurant. We ended up dining there for two of the three nights - first night being something simple and the other a full 3 course meal. My genuine compliments to the chefs who clearly know what they are doing - amazing quality food served in proper portions. Service itself was spot on, not rush and not left waiting either, perfect from everyone.
Similarly the breakfast was amazing. They had a good choice on their breakfast menu but they also offer flexibility so you can mix and match or create your own breakfast (within reason of course). Great start to your day!
Now, there’s 2 reasons as to why I felt the need to make them down a star but to be honest I almost feel bad for doing so because the whole team there are amazing but this has to be said …
Firstly, the noise. If you book there, you obviously have to expect a degree of noise into the evening due to it being a working pub/restaurant so this isn’t what I’m referring to, and to be quite honest the noise from downstairs was minimal. As it’s a listed building their hands are tied but there really is a lack of soundproofing throughout the upstairs and externally. You can hear people talking in the hallway and neighbouring rooms. At one point someone in the room next to us was on the phone and not only could you hear the person in the room but you could also hear the person that they were talking to on the phone. And it turns out the road outside is a major way in and out of Cheddar so constant traffic flow late into the evening and from early in on the morning don’t make for the best night sleep as the single glazed windows offer no protection from the noise.
Secondly, and this is subjective, but for us the mattress was too firm. Really struggled to get comfortable and couldn’t maintain the same position for too long which again didn’t make for the best of sleeps.
Some could argue that bad sleep and noise should downgrade a score even more but despite these things we did have a genuinely nice stay and the staff and service made it that so we probably would stay again if we were ever in the area and we would definitely recommend it to others as long as you go into it expecting these things.

Stayed here for the night with my daughter for a weekend break and couldn’t fault anything . The rooms were exceptionally clean and spacious with lots of complimentary toiletries and nibbles there is no fridge but milk was supplied in a flask and topped up when requested and and iron and ironing board was also brought to our room which was a lifesaver . Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were exceptionally helpful. We had dinner there as well which was also delicious and reasonably priced and breakfast was also to a high stay . I would highly recommend anyone to stay here while visiting cheddar gorge which is a ten minute walk away from the pub .

We loved our stay at the Bath Arms. The building itself is stunning and a short drive from the gorge and caves which we liked as it’s quite commercial and touristy near the gorge itself. The rooms were tastefully decorated in keeping with the building, food was delicious and the staff we very attentive and friendly. We would like to give a special mention to Carly who served us both at dinner and breakfast. She was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble! Would definitely recommend and would love to stay again. Thanks!

What a total treat.
It's not often you get a pub that can execute a good roast, whilst offering an additional menu, but this place does!
The Thai breaded prawn starter was delish, as was their ridiculously cheesy, cheesy garlic bread.
The beef roast was extremely generous in portions, with great veggies and we'll cooked meat.
It was well worth the 30 min drive and will def return.
Great work team.
