Wow! That's the impact as you walk in the front door. Decor is wonderful, some may say eclectic, but it's spectacular if you like the witchy, gothic(?), spiritual thing. Which we do. The atmosphere is welcoming and comforting: the Temple room on the ground floor, draws you in and doesn't want to let you go. Candles, incense sticks all provided and you are invited to use them. Then there's the books! Every, generally, Pagan/Spiritual topic you could imagine is covered somewhere in the vast library that is the Covenstead. It reminded me so much of my childhood home that I felt I was back there. The rooms are incredible, we stayed in Herne's room at the very top...where there is another lounge and a well equipped kitchen for everyone's use...so we had great views over the abbey grounds and looking up to the Tor. Ensuite bathroom generously supplied with products too. Now, breakfast! Cereals, fruit, croissants, pan au chocolate all available before a cooked breakfast...as much or as little as you want. Excellent provision for veggies (us) including the best, most beautifully cooked, tastiest mushrooms I have ever eaten. Everyone sits together for breakfast at the most enormous, exquisite table, with huge ornate chairs. I understand now why it is so difficult to book a room here, if you are "normal for Glastonbury" you will love The Covenstead. We booked for our next stay before we left. Fabulous owner, Tony and his assistant who I want to say is called Freya but I'm sure that's wrong, sorry. Can't wait to go back. …
What a wonderful experience. In the heart of Glastonbury. The décor is fantastic. The rooms are breathtaking. The bed was so comfy. The host Tony was friendly, welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. The staff were equally pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was probably one of the best I have had anywhere. Worth every penny. My favourite place in the whole world. I can't wait to return.
This is our second visit in 4 weeks. We love the place and it is perfectly suited to explore Glastonbury and the surrounding towns. Tony and Freya are welcoming hosts. The room was incredible with a huge bathroom, terrific view, amazing breakfast. Free parking. See you again in 2023 10 /10
I was expecting somewhere special and unique when I booked The Covenstead but It was way beyond what I imagined! The pictures online don’t do the place justice but I feel that is also part of what makes it such a special surprise. It is almost like staying in a magical museum / library full of authentic curiosities and esoteric objects. The place is full of esoteric/ occult books which was an absolute treat for me and there is also a bookcase bursting with tarot decks. All of this is against the backdrop of beautifully styled rooms and lush furnishings, despite the museum / library vibe it is also modern and bright and you’d be lucky to find a speck of dust anywhere. Breakfast is DELICIOUS and the communal banquet style table makes it so special. What elevates all of this even further is that Tony, Freya and the team couldn’t be more helpful and are all so lovely and caring. The location is perfect, right opposite the abbey and not far from everything you’ll want to see. My only complaint is that you eventually have to leave! My top tip here is to make sure you factor enough time in to enjoy the space, the temple room / lounge area is stocked with candles and incense so you will have everything you need to feel at home. I recommend The Covenstead for all sorts of trips. If it’s a solo retreat it is just the most perfect haven but is also the most magical place to share with someone. …
Wow, What a place! I still can't belive I was lucky enough to stay here. When I get the chance to go back to Glastonbury there is only 1 B&B I would consider. The Covenstead is such a magical and mystical place. A real museum of all things woo. You could spend hours exploring the artifacts, playing with the oracle/ tarot cards and just soaking up the atmosphere. We had breakfast both mornings, freshly cooked and delicious. I really like that everyone dines at the same (huge) table, and got to chat to other guests. Location - right in the town centre, opposite the Abbey and the main shopping street just around the corner. Car parking - there's only 2 spaces allocated to the Covenstead, however there is street parking at the front to unload your car, and a car park a few yards away. Rooms - Huge! Beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. I absolutely love that you get incense and candles to burn. I've included some photos but you really need to see it to believe it. Thank you Tony for being such a great host. …
This is absolutely the most quirky, cleanest ,comfortable hotel I've ever been to,the gentleman that runs it is honestly so helpful funny & lovely ,the food was perfect, the staff so friendly & not to mention all of the books, ornament /historic pieces that he has there...just amazing honestly,I've never slept so well...thankyou!!!!
My 4th time here ,fantastic welcome.Tony phoned to see what time we would arrive to make sure our rooms were ready. This was a birthday trip for me came out with a birthday cake at breakfast lovely touch . I stayed in the hallowe’en room the best so far .Great big bath candles over looking the abbey . Will return soon
The Covenstead is a B & B with a difference and it starts the minute you walk through the front door. The place isa shrine to witches, but in an interesting but not bad way. The room we had was similar and a beautiful 4 poster bed which was extremely comfortable. The proprietor was a superb host and very helpful as to where to eat in Glastonbury. The breakfast table has to be seen to be believed and the only thing missing was a member of the Adams family. The breakfast itself was great. Would I recommend this place, absolutely!!!! It is simply great value for money and a bit of a small adventure as well
Excellent stay, wife and I loved it. Tony was the perfect host and his staff were amazing. Excellent cooked breakfast but after two of them I had to try the fruit bowl for breakfast which was amazing. There is so much to look at and the vibe of this place is unique. We will definitely be back soon !!!
Simply the most unique hotel we have stayed at, was our third visit there, all the rooms are stunning and Tony is the most wonderful host. Breakfasts are to die for, with a choice for everyone. Can’t can’t wait for next years visit.
