Travellers' Choice
The Covenstead is an amazing, magical place to stay when you visit Glastonbury. The impressive building is listed, quite grand and full of curiosities and copious books on magic, myth and legend. Our location is perfect as it's on the main street with beautiful views onto the Abbey ruins and within walking distance of shops, pubs and restaurants. We also serve a mean breakfast and cater for vegetarians/vegans.

We stayed for a night and wished we could have stayed for longer. On our arrival, we were shown a very warm welcome from Byron and Tony and made to feel perfectly at home and relaxed in this most unusual of hotels. It is very central, almost opposite the Abbey, easy to find and has its own parking. We stayed in the Arthurian room, a large, beautifully decorated room for 4 and massive for just the 2 of us. This room is quiet and faces the tranquil, sheltered garden, which you can use until 10pm. The garden has hammock swings and seats, perfect for chilling out, reading or just daydreaming. We slept so well in the large, oh so comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast with an expansive range of choices (meat, veggie and vegan), all freshly prepared and cooked and beautifully presented. The house itself is a treat to stay in, and intriguing, with artifacts and books carefully displayed everywhere in the public rooms. It is a treasure trove of curiosities. The pictures on their website say it all. Whether you believe in the spiritual world or not or are just open-minded and curious, this is a fascinating place with hospitality at its very best. Thank you, we promise to come back.

What a fabulous stay! This house is amazing, the decor is unique and very interesting. We stayed with friends, two couples-had the top floor with the fairy room , a lounge, shared kitchen area and a second room inspired by herne the huntre, both en suite with bath and shower. Furnished to a high standard, the owner and staff were really friendly. Breakfast was in the fabulous dining room and was perfect, lots of choice and dietary requirements catered for. We would recommend and will be back!

Loved every minute of it - will be back with all the family! Got the choice to stay in the four poster bedroom 'The Gold Room' as there had been two cancellations and we were thrilled. So much magic - love that you're able to touch and read the books and do the tarot and all sorts! Totally worth the price, somewhere you MUST stay. My only constructive feedback is that our water never arrived when someone went to get it, and we weren't told what time breakfast was !

Hi Tacita, I checked you in and am so sorry I forget about bringing you water for the room and letting you know about breakfast times. Can't think why I was so forgetful that day. Suitably chastised. Tony

What can I say…. This was the most beautiful hotel me and my partner have ever stayed in. The most wonderful, interesting place. Exceptionally clean and a peaceful atmosphere, I honestly didn’t want to go home! We will 100 percent be going back! Our room was … well it was divine!! Absolutely stunning with everything you need. Tony the owner - such a lovely man, so polite and friendly, he couldn’t do enough for you. Ten out of ten, five stars, I feel like everyone should experience The Covenstead.

I was fortunate enough to have a friend book a trip for me and herself staying here. It is not a case of ‘if’ I will return but ‘when’. 💯 %. I can’t wait to come back. I was checking future dates whilst hanging out in the room. I literally couldn’t imagine a better experience and I have been to multiple 5 stars across the globe. Thanks to Byron for the hospitality and welcoming us. The other guests were also chilled, down to earth, polite and fun. Breakfast is perfect and plentiful. You could even have a romantic trip for two, for example, and not go with the intention to meet and greet others if you so liked. I am into the spiritual but you don’t have to be ‘airy fairy’ to appreciate the decor, hospitality, food and proximity to town of this gorgeous place. The decor could easily fill a museum of supernatural/psychic/philosophical items and books. Things I’d forgotten to bring were here for guests and more, way more…
