Was booked in by work. Stayed 2 days. Reception staff mostly very helpful. I asked for a room change because the 1st room I was put in was very dark. Initially it seemed to be a problem - in the end it got sorted. 2nd room was in the main hotel, a small double and very hot. Breakfast was an...

Great location. Breakfast basic but good. Room was clean and comfortable. Parking is a pain but not the hotels fault, they make the best with what they've got. Good value at £75 for the night we stopped.

Picked The White Hart as we had our dog with us and were made very welcome by finding Camber the Weimarama on reception. The hotel is in the middle of town and opens onto wells cathedral and its green. Only stayed for one night but were made to feel so welcome by the staff and owner who were all lovely....

I was upgraded to a large room in the block to the rear without asking, which was much appreciated. The receptionist was welcoming and showed me to my room personally. It had all the facilities I expected including roomy en suite bathroom. Breakfast was up to the standard I expected with a reasonable choice. My only (very small) complaint was...

Stayed here for a family party. My daughter, myself and her 4 month old son had one of the refurbished rooms at the back of the hotel,on the upstairs veranda. The room was quite large with plenty of space for the travel cot that we had requested. It was absolutely spotless, to the point where I wondered if it had...

We stayed dinner, bed & breakfast on Friday 8th July '16. We had a lovely time. There was a very happy Wedding party upstairs while we ate in the restaurant. The staff were both fun & professional. The food was delicious & served 'blind' - so we didn't know what was for each course. We brought our dog and stayed...

Me and my wife stayed on the 20th July for two nights. We were situated in the courtyard, room 9. What a lovely room, nice bathroom and comfortable bed. Staff very attentive and friendly. Jacqueline at breakfast was a real delight! Couldn't do enough for us, hard working and very polite, a pure gem to the hotel! We didn't eat...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Recently taken over by new owners (September 2015) the 15th century White Hart Hotel is situated in the city centre just 10 short steps from the famous Cathedral. Its 15 en suite bedrooms make the perfect base from which to explore Wells and the surrounding area. The restaurant serves locally sourced British food cooked by Head Chef Matthew Briddon (River Café). Wells is a medieval city nestling on the southern side of the Mendip Hills with the mystic Somerset Levels stretching away to the south and west. The history of Wells goes right back to Roman times when it was known that there was a settlement, probably because of the springs that bubble up here. Wells gets its name from these springs which can today be found in the gardens of the Bishop's Palace. Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury, Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar, Clarks Village, Wells Golf Club and Longleat are all close by. ... more   less
