Went for lunch, but the lunch menu had been replaced by 3 course xmas set menu. We asked if we could have two courses instead and were told this was £18 something instead of £24.99, so we agreed. The meal was nice, although waited about 45 mins for it, the waitress and waiter who served us were lovely, albeit a bit slow and coffee delayed for sometime despite being reminded. After asking for the bill and waiting over 20 mins we made our way to the till and our bill was produced, however the charge was £22.99 for the two set meals. when queried I was told they should be £20.99 each but the lady went to get the manager. The Manager said the menu was 3 courses and we couldn't have two! He then saw the reduction and said well thats the price. We asked him to get the waitress who had given us the £18 price, he said she had left and 'must have been telling us porkies'! I said she had keyed in the the food we were having on her machine which then generates that price. I then mentioned the lady at the till had done the same and came up with £20.99, therefore something wasn't right with the tills. At the end of the day we should only pay the £18 quoted when we made the order. He then advised he couldn't alter the till therefore we would have to pay what it said. After approx half an hour of heated discussion my mother paid. All in all very poor handling by the Manager, who was disrespectful about his staff and didn't have a clue how to manage the situation or the till. We will not be returning again and I have since read reviews of other people having similar experiences of being overcharged.

We stayed here for the weekend to go to Alton Towers, Keiron checked us in, he was very friendly, welcoming and treated us like we had been friends for years, he went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, as did all members of staff, the room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you 😊

Stayed for a night on our way back home. Booked the hotel as it looked old and characterful - which it was. We had our evening meal there which was very tasty. We enjoyed tempura prawns with really good light batter and a steak pie, and the staff were very attentive despite the restaurant being full. The room was definitely not a standard chain hotel room which is all the better as far as we are concerned. Room and ensuite bathroom rather tired, but everything worked and was clean. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Lovely breakfast with good choice of food and again quick and helpful service. The manger had noticed that my husband had left his jumper behind and made sure he got it back. We would stay here again if we were in the area

had lunch here mid-week. They were quite busy (1.00pm) and we had to wait about half an hour for our food, but they did tell us that when ordering our meal. Had gammon, egg and chips, very good, not too big a portion; hubby had battered fish and chips and ate the lot. Nice Green King ale too.

I had a lovely meal at the dog and partridge, our order was taken very quickly and then food came out not much later. Me and my partner ordered steaks which were cooked to perfection thankyou to the kitchen staff. We were served by Ella and Lottie who were amazing and catered to us very well. They checked that are meals were fine and cleared the plates very swiftly. I will be coming back thankyou, you made a catch up with a long time friend very lovely.
