Detailed Reviews
My Wife and I visited the Restaurant here on the first day of the Government Dine out,Help out scheme. We have lived in the area for many years and neither of us have ever been here before not knowing they were open to non residents.
On arrival it was obvious that this hotel is used by lots of travelling workers it is light bright and modern, there are lots of signs advising the need to register your car details to avoid charges which was quick and easy.
A nice welcome on arrival and got drinks at the bar before being seated with menus (I challenge anyone not to find something on the menu which spans lots of different dishes and types and especially good vegan choices) we were told that someone would come to take our order but after 15 mins nobody came and we saw people ordering at the bar so we followed suit. I started with Smoked Houmous and warm pitta bread that was nicely spiced and a nice start to the evening.
Our mains were a Jackfruit Curry with rice and nan bread and a Sirloin Steak with all the trimmings both were very nice though the steak would have benefited with a steak knife!! (we were going to ask but by the time the waitress came out the wife was half way through the steak and was surviving so...) then on to puddings and our choices were Strawberry Eton Mess (asked for without cream) and a Chocolate fudge tower. Both were nice though the Eton mess had 1 big strawberry and no meringue!!
The meal was very reasonably priced even without the special 50% off.
We look forward to visiting again and would recommend this restaurant.

Arrived mid afternoon. We were requested to register our car on a tablet so as not to get a parking fine (!) A deposit of £25 was asked for which would be returned on checking out. The room we were given was cold and we found that the radiator was not working. We were told that they knew about the radiator and shown another room. The room was comfortable and there was a tray of snacks and drinks, but the prices were extortionate, especially when there is a Sainsbury opposite the hotel! We had a drink in the bar and the lower room was freezing. There was a lot of noise until 02.40 hrs which actually came from the room next door to our original room (dodged a bullet there!) Breakfast was self service and plentiful. Staff were ok, but need to be more friendly. The £25 deposit was returned exactly a week later. In all, could have been better.

Hotel is very basic. Staff were not the friendliest had to prompt them to greet me, say hello etc. Room is standard, missing essentials like hairdryer? Bed is of average comfort. There isn’t anyway to determine the heat of the room, unfortunately even though it was August it was cold outside so the room was freezing with a cold radiator. Old fashioned shower.
I wouldn’t recommend bothering with eating here unless you have to. We ate dinner and breakfast here - ordered lamb shank, mac and cheese and Caesar salad. The food took ages to come out number one, and when it did come out it was below par. Mac and cheese was tiny but served as a main dish and the Caesar salad was just a bunch of chicken chucked on leaves and it did look uncooked. We did mention this but the waitress I don’t think spoke English well so just nodded and smiled (under mask). It also was FREEZING in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. We then came down for breakfast - cold toast, an undetermined flavour of yoghurt, porridge mixed to whatever creaminess they fancied (watery), no croissants were available. The cooked items were ok, egg, bacon etc. I ended up not eating anything unfortunately.
COVID wise, people were wearing masks of varying degrees, some full visors, some masks falling off faces. I do think asking customers to order from the bar is quite opposite to advice given, as it created loitering if customers all in one space which could make one feel uncomfortable. The ordering online was not recommended by anyone unless you saw the leaflet (which I did). No hand sanitizer or even hand wash in the bathrooms or rooms - only soap.
Overall a standard stay for a night and was very cheap so I suppose can’t expect too much. However when you’re paying extra for food... perhaps you should expect something more from the food.

I stayed for two nights with my daughter. On arrival we were met by an unsmiling receptionist and told that they had been informed that day that some renovations were going on in the rooms around ours but this would finish by 6 o'clock. Although not ideal, I said it wouldn't be a problem as we would probably be going out for dinner anyway.
The room had very poor lighting with no central light and a bulb not working on one side of the bed. We had no water due to workers switching it off temporarily. There was only one towel in the bathroom between two of us and no wardrobe apart from a 'gap' in the wall with five hangers, this 'gap' was shared with an ironing board. No drawers for clothes.
Next morning revealed that the receptionist had not told us that the renovations carried on the next morning and the noise of knocking off tiles and drilling made it impossible to use our room during the day. I had to sit in hotel conservatory area to do some reading there. To be honest this was lighter and nicer than the room anyway!
I requested another towel in the morning and a different, friendlier receptionist assured me she would have one put in our room. By the afternoon this still hadn't happened and by the evening I ended up going to reception to ask again.
Despite staying for two nights, our room was never made up and the tea/coffee tray was not replenished. Again, I had to visit reception and ask for more sachets. Room has no phone so any problem or queries you have means a trip down to reception.
Some staff were friendly but i got the impression that they had worked there a while and got too comfortable and unprofessional. I feel the room was very expensive and you shouldn't need to keep requesting basics that should be provided anyway. Also, no apology or compensation offered for inconvenience of rennovation work.
Only good thing about the hotel in my opinion was the location plus a comfortable bed, however this is not enough to make me want to stay again.

We booked a dinner and when we arrived we were attended to very professionally.when we got the order the food was presented well and was very nice especially my steak.
Unfortunately we had to eat with our coats on as it was so cold and no heating. As far as covid rules go there was masks being worn and social distancing was in place but our table was already laid with cutlery and table napkins which was not sensible with the covid as you dont know how long they have been they and if anyone has touched them. When the waitress came to lay table with other cutlery like steak knives she just got them out of a pocket in her apron.
That is the first restaurant I have been to during covid that my table has not been completely clean of all items and the items have been given to you after you order

Dear Pete3410 Thank you for choosing to dine with us and I am glad you enjoyed your dinner, we hope to welcome you back in the near future. Our boilers are currently being fixed and for that, I can only apologise for the lack of heating. We operate our establishment in a COVID secure way which covers the Government Guidelines. All tables are socially distanced and sanitised strictly after use and the cutlery and napkins are removed and relaid with new ones that have been cleaned and polished once the table has been cleared. We have 'I Am Clean' table cards that are placed on the tables that are ready to be seated to our guests. We respect your comments and do take them on board, hope to see you soon Kind Regards Kiran Dulai General Manager

My wife and I booked a 2 night stay in May 2022, on arrival the car park was spacious and well laid out with ample parking, the hotel reception was welcoming and bright and the staff on duty friendly and helpful. Due to there being no lift our room was changed to a family room on the ground floor which on entering was dark and gloomy, heavy brown wooden doors and skirting boards making the room very dark, even putting the main light on didn't improve the light as it was so weak, the wardrobe didn't have a door and was quite small so apart from a jacket and coats being placed in the wardrobe we kept our clothes in the suitcase. As with most hotels they request you reuse you bath towels which for a two night stay we didn't mind, however there were no towel rails to hang the wet towels on to dry so considering it was a family room, I have no idea how a family with children would have managed, the reception staff were very helpful and we were given fresh towels. The bathroom was a shower only and was tiled and well presented although there were no shelves to put shampoo or soap whilst in the shower. The bed had clean white linen and I have to say was very comfy.
On the first night we had a meal in the hotel, I had Hunters Chicken which I felt the chicken was quite rubbery as if it had been reheated and the breakfasts we had were self service buffet style which although not our preferred style were sufficient in a basic way.
In conclusion we would not stay here again

My work colleagues and I returned to this place for our christmas works do, having had a brilliant time christmas 12918. A completely different, and unpleasant experience. There was no heating, our tables were set out on what had been the dance floor, the DJ, who was about 15, would have been more suited to a rave than a christmas party, and only after protests from us and people started to leave that he changed it. There was no heating in the whole place on one of the coldest nights of the year and it was freezing. We sat and ate with our coats on. The food was appalling - cold rubbery turkey, frozen roast potatoes, and the only veg were sprouts. The vegetarian food was even worse. W were eventually dancing on a dance floor the same area as the average bathroom (at least we kept warm being packed like sardines). To top it all, someone arrived to collect some of our party, they parked outside for about two minutes and got a £60 parking ticket (even though the car park was empty). I emailed the hotel the next day voicing my disappointment but that has not prompted a reply. I only wanted an apology and an explanation, but there is as much chance of that as there is of a good meal it seems. I thought I would take it a step further so emailed the head office and surprise surprise, no response from them either. Clearly, customer service is not high on their list of priorities. They should rename this hotel Fawlty Towers, accept as a guest for the evening it was far from funny. I also know of three people who have stayed and have had the payment taken twice, and it took several days and many phone calls to get that put right. Please, do yourself a favour and stay well away.

Didn’t really expect to be greeted by a rude reception manager after a 3 hour journey! Very officious, not interested in us, just ticking boxes. Our double room although cleaned to a reasonable standard had definitely not been refurbished, there were marks on the chair and the carpet, dents on the ceiling. There was rust around the taps in the bathroom. Please can I suggest that you don’t clean the coffee machine in the bar 45 mins before closing, especially when you have a group of 10 people coming in from a wedding who would have liked a night cap before bed! Certainly wouldn’t give it 3 stars or be coming back again.

This hotel is located just off the motorway so we requested a 'quiet' room & were given one at the back. Unfortunately the noise can still be heard from the road & the soundproofing in the rooms was non existent especially when our neighbour turned on his tv. The room has no drawers & just a slot next to the shower room to hang clothes in - we left our coats in the car & did not fully unpack to combat this shortcoming. The shower pressure was so weak you can hardly feel the water. Only 1 hook on the back of the bathroom door nowhere to hang towels. The light in the corridor shone in through the door 24/7 so we had 3 nights of disturbed sleep. 1 chair per room. Breakfast was pre-cooked and dry. More basic than a travel lodge so not a good stay. Only redeeming feature were the staff who were polite and friendly.

Heating not working in room. £25 per room deposit taken to cover a tray of crisps, chocolate bars and cheap wine. Deposit held for several days by their bank - very cosy arrangement. Reception could only give condescending excuse for deposit retention - "it says so in the small print".
