Travelodge Dorking, while commended for its clean and comfortable rooms, often leaves guests wanting due to its dated atmosphere and simple amenities. Many visitors appreciate the hotel's strategic location near local attractions and the convenience of nearby shops. The staff generally receives praise for their friendliness, yet some guests have encountered inconsistent service. While the hotel's cleanliness and free parking are positives, critiques commonly point to the need for refurbishment and better value, as the current pricing doesn't always match expectations for modernity and quality.

After staying at the Ipswich travelodge earlier in the year I had reasonable expectations of a professional operation offering basic but clean accommodation. Unfortunately the Dorking travelodge didn’t come anywhere near the same standards. The reception had the awful urine smell and sadly I had to wait there with my husband and two kids for nearly 20 mins as my room that was supposed to be available from 3pm wasn’t ready at 11pm. When we were finally able to access the room one of the beds hadn’t been set up so we did that ourselves only to find there wasn’t any bedding for it. Back to reception who said he’d bring it right up…… 20 mins later I went down again and he said he was sorry he’d forgotten.
The pillows and sheets were clean but the duvets were stained and grimy looking.
The bathroom was very tired looking and crying out for updating or re-doing and the soap dispenser front fell off every time you tried to use it. Marks all over the ceiling and last guests wee on the seat and floor 🤢
I got the impression they were very short staffed so maybe we were unlucky with the timing of our stay and the poor guy on the reception had to keep dashing off to clean rooms etc, but sadly the whole experience didn’t leave a good impression.

Very pleasantly surprised by the Travelodge though of course the TA reviews are good. I had no difficulty parking and there is a Tesco right there in the car park which was great for grabbing a sandwich the next morning before setting off.
Reception area is uniformly dull by not a problem as I wasn't planning on spending time there. My room was nice, very comfortable and a good size. I slept very well indeed. As is the case with many hotels, the shower/bath plughole clearly hasn't been cleared in a while as the water built up very quickly around my ankles - not a pleasant job but hotels really do need to keep on top of this.
I will definitely use this TL again though I cancelled a further night and I am still waiting to get my refund.

We had a good stay at this small Travelodge, which is conveniently located within walking distance of Dorking High Street, with a good selection of places to eat. The reception staff were very helpful and accommodating when our plans changed late in our stay. The room was clean and comfortable and quiet.

This travelodge has a great location within easy walking distance of Dorking town centre! I recommend asking for a first floor room which faces the car park, doesn’t sound great at first, but you have this glorious view of the beautiful Surrey Hills. Can even see Box Hill view point!

There is a Tescos right next to it which is ideal to pick up some supplies either when you’re just about to go out and enjoy your day, or if you need a quick snack as you head back to the room after a very long day!

I have to say every time I stay here, the room is spotless, the bed is made beautifully and even more comfortable! It’s cleaner than most hotels I’ve stayed in!

The staff are extremely friendly, always greet with a smile and tend to any needs you have. I’ve stumbled in late from the pub / bars on several occasions and the late night staff are always up for a chat and a laugh. Nice touch I think cos the staff here are just genuinely friendly and nice people.

On top of all that the price is very fair and reasonable! Fantastic value!

The staff were friendly and helpful during my stay. The location is well situated, not long of a walk into the heart of Dorking and close to lots of footpaths and Box Hill. The convenience store right next to the hotel is also great for picking anything up. Room & bathroom were clean, the shower had good water pressure and hot water. USB charging ports on bedside table and independent reading lights were nice touches in the rooms.

Very budget friendly option close to Dorking town centre. Staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, WiFi works fine and plenty of hot water. Parking right out front and a Tesco next door so all convenient. A fridge in the room would be nice and a few more hooks in the bathroom would be helpful but can happily recommend for those looking for dependable wallet friendly stay.

Avoid. Dorking Travelodge is tired and dirty. There were no towels in the room but then the water was freezing cold so perhaps it was surmised that we wouldn’t need them. The TV had no signal and we weren’t given enough mugs. To cap it all, we had the room nearest reception so got to hear everyone coming in and out.

Awful. I booked the family room for 2 adults and a 12 year old. I paid £155 in advance for the night, unlimited WiFi and breakfast for three. On arrival at 9pm we discovered the bathroom had not been cleaned and there was no breakfast available. We were told by the friendly receptionist George that we had to apply for a refund by submitting a complaint. A few mins later we realised the WiFi wasn’t working either - ‘sorry sir you need to apply for a refund again’. My wife had been looking forward to a bath but there was no way anyone would have a bath in that tub. Disgusting! One more thing - the downstairs fire exit locking mechanism was broken and the door was wedged open permanently. Great security!
In my opinion this hotel isn’t fit for purpose and needs updating urgently. We are applying for a full refund.

Upon arriving at the travelodge in Dorking, I was subject to huge pot holes. This was not only dangerous but should be filled in through pure inconvenience. There was nobody on the counter and a sign had been placed saying someone would be back in a minute. After waiting 5 minutes, I realised the person was just sat around the corner.

My room had mouldy net curtains, mould in the bathroom and blood on the sheets.

Any time we needed any support from anybody, there was nobody on the desk. At one point, my partner waited for ten minutes to ask for a hair dryer and was forced to call a number on a different notice left on the front desk, all the while the person who was supposed to be working there round the corner hidden out of sight again.

Each night, our corridor smelt very strongly of either marijuana or takeaway. It wasn’t pleasant.

Members of staff stood smoking on the steps into the hotel meant it smelt every time you entered. You could also smell the ashtray at the top of the bin.

At 7:30am each morning, there was a delivery for Tesco right outside our room (21). It was noisy and people were talking very loudly right outside our room. Banging of bins etc.

The door was supposed to be locked into the hotel at 10pm and to use your room key. The door wasn’t locked once whilst we were there.

Overall it didn’t feel safe or clean and, despite it being cheaper, I don’t feel that our needs were met and the customer service was not adequate.

The TV signal was dreadful

Get what you pay for, but damp musty / mould, stench, dirty (seats, carpet, used wet towel on the back of the door, dirty toilet seat and someone had kindly left us their dried contact lenses on the bedside table to enjoy) was beyond pleasant!

To be woken through the early hours approx 5am, by the adjacent Tesco Express delivery clattering, can’t say we were well rested.

One of those places where you keep your socks on at all times

We took a chance with Dorking, knowing we wouldn’t be faced with drunken youths like you might expect in other city centres. Still wished we hadn’t..
