We stayed here for one night as part of a business visit. The first thing to say is that parking is very much luck of the draw. We were fortunate to find a space but it was tight! That said, it's a great location, close to the main station and in the heart of the city. The main selling point...

Stayed for the weekend and were there for a wedding Rooms were lovely but if I have one criticism it's that our room seemed dated The furniture and decor were dated and it's been like that for a number of years now, for the price you pay for the room I personally would prefer it a bit more modern The...

Make sure you check if your room is directly over the function rooms! If it is, move! We have been listening to thumping music until 1am. Hotel didn't inform guests sleeping over the function room which is not great. Lovely decor. Helpful on the ground staff but lack of sleep and noise has spoilt my stay.

Stayed only 1 night. Room was fine, although mattress was very hard and actually woke me up a few times, bathroom was a little grotty, tv kept getting stuck on one channel, essentially the rooms need modernising. I ate in the bar, which was fine. Ordered breakfast to the room, which was late, cold, overcooked, lacking cutlery and just a...

I've stayed at the Vermont before and it is a really nice hotel. Nice furnishings, comfortable bar and lounge and reasonably priced drinks. Sadly my room 1103 was disappointing. 11th floor overlooking the railway which was incredibly noisy added to which the very lovely Cathedral clock struck loudly every fifteen minutes. Early morning emptying of the bottle bank, street cleaning...

Stayed here during the weekend and was impressed with hotel and decor.Liked the feel and layout of bar, downsides to bar were young bar man had no experience and didnt know his job, secondly the bar only served one type of tonic,I would have expected more from a high end hotel. We had room on 8th floor which was nice, only downside was it...

The stay in the Vermont hotel was very enjoyable. Very classy hotel, centrally located in the centre of Newcastle, easy walking distance to most attractions. Staff friendly. Well appointed rooms. Excellent lounge and bar areas.

Attended a wedding at this hotel. The actual venue and decoration for the wedding was beautiful. The only issue was the food. It was an afternoon tea and there was barely enough food for everyone at the table. If you have to pad afternoon tea out with chips then there is not enough food. The scones were very dry and...

Lovely hotel and very central. Easy walk from the railway station. Relaxing atmosphere and beautifully decorated throughout. Although we did not have evening meal in hotel the breakfast was good and staff very attentive.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Few hotels can boast a more enviable city centre postcode than the Vermont Hotel, for this imposing structure is located in the heart of the City of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, not only next to the Castle Keep and opposite the historic Moot Hall, but also just two minutes from Newcastle's Central Station. Combining old character in the form of 1930s grandeur with contemporary elegance and four-star luxury, the landmark building is your base from which to discover the many bars, shops and attractions of the town centre and wider area. Look outside your window and you might see such sights as the River Tyne, Millennium Bridge or stunning cathedral, and it's not the only mark of the sheer inspiration of the Vermont Hotel experience. That's because the reasons for the hotel's reputation become clear with a stay in any one of its sophisticated bedrooms, which are finished in soft relaxing colours while also coming with a wealth of facilities for your pleasure and comfort, including - among others - private en-suite bathrooms, a mini bar and free Internet access. ... more   less
