Went to pick up my 84 year old father in law from brother in law who was a guest at the hotel. Picked him up, had dinner in the restaurant, 2 weeks later get a £65 parking charge. Sent information and a copy of the receipt for the £35 meal and got a discount but not deleted. Total con, signs say parking ok for guests and people eating at restaurant, clearly not.

Writing this while in the room wide awake. DO NOT STAY IN THIS "HOTEL" The awful noise coming thru the pipes suggests no sleep will be taking place. The once great Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel now RIP. Poor, poor, poor. Just heed this advice, or suffer the consequences. Dismal.

I genuinely don't understand a lot of the recent reviews. We came because we were going to the races, literally next door so it's an ideal base for that. We arrived and yes from the outside it's definitely dated and I can't comment about the car parking fines because we haven't had one yet and to me it's now a standard thing to enter your registration on a hotel check in. ( not that I would pay a car parking invoice anyway). Check in was easy and staff polite. The room was big, clean and comfortable. Yes it could do with updating but in covid times with less income it's not going to be happening. Breakfast the following morning was all you can eat buffet style and was very good ( better with fried eggs). Again the staff were polite. The only downside was the bar. (not the staff). The prices were way too high and other than a bottle no real ale. Then the strangest part, shortly after 9 it closed. They just shut the gates separating the bar from the lounge, no announcement. There were literally 16 people who wanted another drink but shouting through the gates they weren't for giving any. Would we stay again definitely. For drinks it would be the pub across the road though

Booked 3 night stay with 2 rooms. Was not told when booking that the restaurant was closed. Rooms were awful. Badly stained carpets. Walls and doors all marked and desperately needed decorating. Stayed one night because could not stand it for 3 nights. Overcharged on checkout. Barely even 2 star rating.

First time at this hotel which was booked by my daughter who lives nearby. We had traveled for 6 hours so very tired. We were given a room on the fourth floor and it was a nice clean room and bathroom. After finishing unpacking I noticed a noisy air conditioning extractor fan in the bathroom. We waited for it to stop after switching off the light - it never stopped! As I'm a very light sleeper I knew I could not sleep there. I went to reception and asked if they could do something and was immediately given a new room, upgraded to a suite two rooms along the corridor and an apology. We carried all our baggage to this suite, sorted ourselves out then noticed the same noise!!! Too tired to move again. I placed a number of tissues on the grill of the extractor fan and closed the bathroom door and bedroom door. These measures deadened the noise. The hotel is great and the staff great but if you are a light sleeper do not take rooms 401 - 403. We will be returning to this hotel,
