As it was my birthday, I was surprised by my best friend that I would be staying at the County for the evening. Upon arrival, we were met by a lovely member of staff who helped us with our bags and held the door to the hotel open. Check in, was smooth, slick and friendly. Very informative staff. After the excellent directions too our lovely double twin room, the door opened and inside the staff had been in. They had put balloons, birthday banners up, wrote a card wishing me happy birthday. As a city centre hotel you expect luxury and helpfulness of the staff, however this was going above and beyond. After a refreshing shower in their bright, airy and modern bathroom we went downstairs to the restaurant attached The Hudson. Where we ate some amazing food, drank som wonderful champagne…and then hit the town! Check out again was slick, smooth and stress free. We had a lovely breakfast the next day in the restaurant, again the staffs attentiveness is top notch! As if this stay wasn’t enough I had booked to stay for another night a couple of days later. Upon arrival I was in a major hurry and was talking to a lovely member of staff who was checking me in. He knew I was in a hurry as I was seeing a show, and got me booked in quickly and shown to my room. I was in an executive suite….my oh my! I could have stayed there all night and sacked the show off! The room was just lush! The staff are lush! The beds are so comfy! Everything is clean! Nothing is an issue for the staff! The people that write these negative comments I fear exaggerate the truth!

We chose the county as we had passed it many a time while out and about in newcastle and thought it looked nice. We then chose to stay here for the night for my partners birthday and have a night out for a meal and drinks. Immediately at check in we were impressed the guy on reception was very friendly and helpful. We were given an extra hour extended on our check out time which we were very appreciative of as this meant not getting up as early after being out on the evening. The room we had was the city double room and it was very nice. The bed was very comfy and we had a great view of central station from the window. The only thing i would mention is we were 2nd floor up and till about 2 in morning it can be a little noisy as people shout passing drunk but that is no fault of hotel and we did have window open a little. Thanks for an amazing stay county.

Hi harp024, Thank you for your great feedback, we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay and the service from the team. We agree the City Double rooms are really nice and next time you come please ask the team about an upgrade to one of our Deluxe or Executive rooms, with the Nespresso coffee machine, robes and slippers, we think you'll like these even more! We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Booked a room for three nights and explained when booking the flexibility I required. I was misinformed during the booking and discovered this immediately on checking in. I was told to speak to the manager (Marcus) who would be in the following day, who then subsequently referred me to the booking team over the phone, who referred me back to the manager (Marcus). Days and days pass by waiting for a response only to be told he is 'confident' I was not misinformed and therefore they would not offer the refund for the two nights no longer required. They also said they believed that the cancellation policy was clearly stated - but they changed the wording of the cancellation policy after my complaint. Why change the cancellation policy wording if it was clear as you say Marcus? Still waiting for a reply and it is now close to a month since we stayed. Avoid this place like the plague. Just a terrible experience.

Hi rasfer, Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. I am pleased to see that you enjoyed the hotel and the bedrooms. As we have discussed, please accept our apologies again if you misunderstood the flexible cancellation policy when making your booking. When we spoke you advised you had seen in the confirmation email, sent immediately after you booked, that the flexible rate cancellation policy was 1 day prior to arrival, which was different to what you thought you had booked. I can appreciate being busy and needing to wait until arriving at check in to query this but it was confirmed again, at that stage, that the policy was the ability to cancel up until 1 day prior to arrival, not on the day. As you know when we spoke the following morning, the same information was given and you were immediately offered a refund for the 3rd night of the reservation, in line with the cancellation policy. Again, we are sorry that there was any misunderstanding, we feel our 1 day prior flexible booking policies are very generous and we hope to welcome you back to the County Hotel again soon.
