Stayed here for the 1st time. Location is fantastic, very central. No parking but plenty of options around. We had booked a junior suite, which was nice, such a good size, with a huge bathroom. We were on back of hotel so no view of anything, but quiet room away from the road. It needed touching up in places & little things needed fixing but overall no major issues. Bed was huge. Shower over bath not great as to close to the wall & kept trickling. We had breakfast for £10 each, this was great value & very tasty. Great stay.

This hotel really is special! I was visiting from London so the hotel prices seemed really cheap, but the service and hotel was not reflective of that at all! The staff were so friendly and professional, public areas and the room was beautiful decorated and clean. The hotel was a great location for a city break in Newcastle, and the bar does fantastic alcohol free cocktails (I assume regular cocktails too!). I also had a massage here and it was one of my top three massages I've ever received!

I stayed here for the weekend of the Great North Run and it was a bit more expensive than I had wanted, it was very centrally located for the run. Firstly it was rather disappointing we were only allowed one goodie bag per room, it was 11pm at night and they still had 30 left, I doubt that many people were left to check in the night before the race. So, were we meant to halve the banana? Definitely paid to have better treatment than that. The room was very small, no space to walk down the side of the bed so you had to crawl over it to get in. There were marks on the toilet and bath. The condition of the decor on the stair case is very poor, big cracks, peeling paint. Really needs tidying up. For a boutique hotel I expected a lot more! The best part was the breakfast but I'm not sure if that is part of the hotel or not. Leila Lily's, the staff were fantastic. They made sure everything was gluten free for me, offering me many different options. Bacon sandwich had a lot of bacon in it. The food came quickly too. They also very kindly filled up our water bottles ready for the race. I think the hotel staff need to take a leaf out of their books.
