Had to take a freezing cold morning shower: Called reception manager said boiler had broken 3 days before, no maintenance on site, no option to try a different room, insisted if I ran the water it would get hot. 15 mins later water still ran cold, I was getting late so had to shower cold. Manager unapologetic. Any decent hotel must offer a good bed and hot shower, for a hotel not to have a back up boiler system is bizaare and shows a lack of customer care.
We have just returned from a 3 night weekday stay. We arrived at mid day but were able to get into our room straight away. This was a plus as we were expecting to have to wait until 3pm. The room was large, very clean and had all that we needed. The service we received was excellent. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast, which was included in the deal, was very good. The hot food was hot and plentiful. The only downside on the catering was that the floor area of the servery was small and it was crowded at peak times. The location of the hotel is excellent as it's literally across a road from the railway station and there are plenty of places to eat and drink around it.. We will certainly stay here again if we ever return to Newcastle as the staff were lovely, helpful and the service was excellent.…
Overall the hotel is OK. Rooms are big enough and fairly clean. I would love to see mire healthy options for breakfast. I stayed 3 times in this hotel in past year and every time reception staff is not very welcoming, I can't say they are rude but they are not pleasant something I would expect from every hotel reception. So everything else is good, but reception is poor.
It’s the 2nd time we have stopped at this hotel this year, as you approach the hotel it doesn’t look very welcoming (scruffy and grubby) but once you get in the lift and find reception on floor 2 it’s totally different. Lovely staff, extremely friendly. The rooms are great plenty of space and always very clean. Lovely breakfast. The only down side to our last visit was we were in room 608 which is above a pub open storage area (not connected to the hotel) the noise from 4.30am-6.30am was unbelievable, people talking and rolling bear barrels and bottles etc, with no consideration that people in the hotel might be sleeping. I reported it to the member of staff as we checked out his reply was he would report it to his manager as apparently the pub have been told about it before!!!!! Totally spoilt our stay as we were so tired. Apart from that I would recommend this hotel.…
we stayed for 2 nights, the first room looked fine, but when used the bathroom the hand basin had large check-in it, went to reception said we could move rooms we did to one on floor 7, that had all coffee stains, and marks on the wall went back to reception again move rooms, here for a city break, not move around the hotel , no good well gesture just s sorry, as a Hilton member no extra points, or a drink at the bar Think the reception staff need some guest relation training
